Does anyone know if I should sanitize the store bought bottles before adding the water?

Or is bottled water okay to add right away...?

Sorry for the question....new brewer. :mug:

I use it, and I add it unsanitized as top off water, and I don't have any issues.
I don't see how it's any different from others who use unsanitized tap water to top off.
If you really want to, you could boil all the water to be used to top off, but then you have to chill it and dirty up more dishes and....
Or as an alternative, you could do full boils, and then all of your water will be boiled at once.

You would take out any kind of bacteria futon the boil anyways. I always use those spring water bottles for my beers

I use tap water and boil it. I'm doing partial boils so I boil about 3 gallons and move it to my bottling bucket then sit it outside to cool. I then do my actual boil at about 2.5 gallons and after the wort cools, move it to the fermenter and top it off with the previously-boiled water in the bottling bucket.

Always used a 2-gallon jug of drinking water straight out of the jug (heck with the de-ionized stuff...you want those minerals). If I ever came up just short of 5+ gallons, just top off with a bottle or two of regular bottled water (i.e. Dasani, which my brother keeps arduous amounts of in the house).
