So bottled my first batch today, got 47 bottles and 2 broken when capping. It has been a long time coming for me. It think it took 4 or 5 yrs saying I want to try to actually do it. Definitely learned alot during the process and I am sure I have a long way to go.

I even got a little creative with the Brown Ale that came with my kit and added a teaspoon of vanilla and maple extract to my priming sugar. Hope my creativity doesn't back fire.

Well enough about that, my youngest daughter helped me prep, transfer, sanitize, bottle, and cap. Was a good time and can't wait to see what happens in two weeks[emoji846]

awesome. Looks like a great day. Seems you started right as well - make this about fun. Involving the kid - best ever. Anytime you can have fun with the kids is a great day. My friend, you did everything that matters perfectly.

Awww thats great that your daughter wanted to help! Does she have any interest in learning to make soda/pop as part of this carbonation hobby?

She had a blast, she was all over it. Making sure we sanitized, filled right, and took time capping[emoji16]

one thing, when you transfer from fermenter to bottling bucket, make sure the hose is on the bottom of the bottlingbucket, last 2 inches horizontally, this reduces splashing and oxigen.

I'd also add: have the end of the tube at the wall of the bottling bucket, on a tangent, to create a swirl. It helps mix in the priming sugar.
