Here is two shots of our IPA tasting from last month, only two of us since two bailed, so we still have round two, maybe even round three to plan

Posted in another thread but this was part one of our share. No pics of part two though :(
Unlabeled bottles are westy 8 and 12

Not too extravagant but it was a fun night nonetheless! Also, a Surly Overrated didn't make it into the picture...

Looks like a pretty tasty lineup to me! What did you think of the different blakkr? I've only had the real ale and thought it was excellent.

Had a buddy over last night and managed to get through these, not bad considering we didn't start until 10pm

Not pictured is a can if Beelzebub. Or the 6 beers I had before he came over.

It was amazing how different they were. The Real Ale held up the best and was the easiest drinker. It was the most balanced, bitter, but not super abrasive. The 3 Floyds was very similar to the RA but the bittering hops were way more in your face and harsh. The Surly had a ver creamy mouthfeel and seemed to have most of the hops fallen out. It had a strong molasses component and, except for having the same aroma as the other two, tasted almost entirely like a different beer. All the beers were stored at fridge or cellar temps and were served at the same temp. Very interesting side-by-side-by-side!

Sour tasting with a purpose. Saturday Nate and Ed and I brewed a sour (well, mostly Nate with some help from Ed and I) and Saturday night we got together and liberated the yeast from some bottle dregs to add to the wyeast smack pack you see there. Everything except the Gueze's were tasted and went into this 10 gallon batch of funk. Couple of Cascades, couple Double Moutain krieks, could deschutes, a new belgium and a funkwerks from a MAW.

Cascades by far won, and we drank those first. Anyone posting Maw and eMaw lists should be asking for Cascades. Just hands down better than the rest.

Just as an FYI that La Folie is pastuerized so no live bugs to add to the brew. It won't hurt anything but that bottle doesn't have anything you can use to sour beer anymore.

Well there wasn't any DDG or Fou, but the below is from a big share last night. This was the first half of the bottles, didn't get a picture of the second half. The De Garde, SARA, Rapp OMG, Dark Lord 12, Vietnamese Coffee SS, and Jeaux Deux were some of my favorites.

Share from last night... Still drunk and have to somehow go drink at tired hands today before the Dave Matthews concert... Solid weekend shaping up!

Thanks, I didn't know that. Dammit, but glad its not killing off anything else we put in. Got a nice slow ferment going on, then hope to kill some more sours and add a second batch of bugs to the mix end of the month.

our last little share, emphasis was on sours. lots of homebrewed sours were sampled too.

those last two are awesome. nothing fancy and just some sours.

yeah. $100-200 worth of beer each are nothing fancy and just some sours. That's how we roll on HBT sampling and critiquing and beer swapping. I love it.
