I have been adding about 1lb of sugar to my batches to boost the ABV but in the last 2 batches, done on Sunday, I forgot to add the additional sugar to the boil. Can I add this sugar to the firmenters? If so, how do I do this? Strait sugar grains? Boil in small amount of water?

to be completely safe, boil for 5-10 minutes. doesn't need to be much. 2 cups of water for 1 lb should be good. use corn sugar, if a light beer. for dark, use brown sugar

thanks guys. i was told regular cane sugar worked fine in small amounts like 1lb, not really changing the flavor much but increasing the alcohol by about 1%.

The reason to boil for 5-10 mins, just to be clear, is so that you sterilize the solution before adding it to your wort. Don't want to introduce those nasties to it now! :)
