my wife boiled eggs in an old aluminum pot last night, and it became very discolored. is this normal?

it was just water and eggs, no vinegar, salt, anything.

wierd things happen with eggs boiled in aluminum, sometimes the pot gets discolored, but usually what happens is the cooked eggs end up with greenish tinted yolks... something to do with the calcium in the shell reacting with something in the aluminum.

problem 1, boiled eggs . . .

Been doing it this way since I heard about it and never had any issues since (as long as you start with room temp eggs)
