What is your experience using a blue water jug as a HLT? Can the plastic take the heat and the drill hole for a spigot?

Or is it even do-able? I have searched but haven't found any threads on it yet.

You are heating the wate rbefore hand obviously. I sparge with about 185 sometimes. I wouldnt do it, but thats not saying it wont work.

+1 for not doing it, used water coolers can be had with a spigot already installed at garage sales all summer for cheap.

If you're talking about PET plastic bottles, you'll probably melt it. Even thin HDPE gets soft at those temps.
