I just brewed my first brew, (irish red ale) and im curious if a blow over would occur at around what time would this happen?
Would it happen after a day, a week, 3 weeks?

If you get a lot of fermentation activity, it will most likely happen within the next 24 hrs. Attach a blow off tub to your air lock and put the end in some sanitation water mixture

Blow off is less likely if your fermentor has the extra headspace and you keep your fermentation temperatures in the low to mid 60° range.

I put a blow-off tube submerged into Starsan on every batch for at least the first 3 days -- regardless of style or headspace. Even with sessions/lawn mower beers. I just don't want to clean up the mess after an airlock clog-induced eruption. Once fermentation settles down, I remove the tube and put in a standard airlock (if I remember to bother).

Wondering why put in Starsan? The water can't get back into the beer can it? Just had a nice blow out on my airlock, first time I've used a tube so curious. I'm using my racking tube, sprayed starsan on the tube before inserting but the water is just out of the tap.

If the blowoff bowl/can/pot/whatever is at a lower level than the fermenter, it won't siphon its way in, but it should still be sanitized to make sure.
