Blow off tube came off post pitch

G'Day. Had a great brew day. I went back to my fv after having pitched (about 20 min prior) to find that my blow off tube had somehow released itself from the fv. Essentially, my wort could've been open to the environment (indoors) for upwards of 20 min.

Has anyone experienced this, should I be worried? Is this a RDWHAHB moment?

Yes.. No worries, unless your fermentation environment is in toxic air.

If it were in my basement, I'd worry.
Most other places not so much. My fermenter is open to the air while I fill it, dry hop it, and drain it. Rarely a problem.

This happens all the time to people and infections are rare. 1% chances of any effect - even in a basement.

I give this advice to all of my friends locally - it’s probably spoiled. Once a blowoff is no longer required, please package it up and send it to me as you’ll likely have no need for it.

In all honesty, you have nothing to worry about. The yeast will do their thing and you’ll have beer.
