I am cleaning some kegs I just got and there is a black residue coming off of the handles of the kegs. Is this common? Is there a way to prevent it from coming off?

It is normal on the old rubber lids... some people have used "tire shine" to help condition the lids and bottoms.

Sure. Get it all over your khaki pants. It won't come off of those. Or the white bathtub either.

Seems about 50/50 whether a kegs "sheds" or not. I have some black ones that don't, but some do. Personally I like the green ones or blue ones as they don't seem to rub off.
