I ferment Ruby Red Grapefruit juice using the same procedure as apple cider, including cider yeast. The end product is excellent. My question is, can it be put in a cider category for BJCP competitions without any apple in it.

Yooper nailed it...

Op what is your recipe? You dont end up with a bitter mess??
I assume you back sweeten it and dont drink it dry?
My father LOVES grapefruits but i always thru out the idea of grapefruit wine, interesting if it dosent turn out like orange wine!

I know this is super super old but if anyone reads this... I just bottled a gallon of Grapefruit apple cider. I used 3/4 of a gallon of Grapefruit juice and topped it off with honey crisp apple juice, 1 cup of white sugar and i used lalvin ec1118 yeast. I think it came out pretty damn good. Next time i will use less grapefruit but i wish i had made 5 gallons instead of just a gallon. can't wait to try it carbonated!!!
