Hi!
Yesterday was botteling day. I bottled my first two month lager (SMaSH Vienna and Saaz lager with german lager yeast). According to beersmith it should be around 27 IBU, and the wort tasted normal. But after two monts it did not at all taste bitter, I Would say 10 IBU, but other vice very pleasing . I rushed to the brew supply store and got more malt and hops. 75% Vienna 15% Munich 10% caramber, carapils, and caraffa deusked. Saaz and Hallertau M
Today was brewday I doubled the amount of saaz for bittering and added the same amount of saaz as flavor and aroma hops plus equal amounts of Hallertau M. After the boil it did not taste double as bitter, it tasted insanely bitter and hoppy. I say A-IPA hoppy and Burton on Trent -IPA bitter.
I am wondering. Does the long fermentation and lagering kill the bitterness?
