Bells VERSUS Founders!!

Homercidal hit it on the head. Two hearted is much maltier and has a better overall aroma. Its definately my go to session beer. Have you guys tried Founders Endurance Ale? Its amazing. Hoping they bottle that. Its the ultimate hop head session beer.

Yep - Had it on tap at their brewpub last year and the Winking Lizard here in Columbus actually has it on tap now (had on this past weekend). It is a nice session hoppy beer. If they get to bottling it, it will be a summer fav along with Southern Tier's Hop Sun.

damn, you guys up north have it good. going live with a big project monday and due for a few days off. The beer geek in me wants to say Founders without a doubt. But when I break it down by style I'm not so sure.

2hearted beats Centenial IPA
Expedition beats Founders Imperial Stout
Old Curmudgeon beats Third Coast Old Ale
Founders Porter beats Bells Porter
Breakfast stout destroys Java Stout
Founders Pale Ale beats Bells Pale Ale
Hopslam edges out Double Trouble
Black Note and KBS are too close to call

Then there are the many beers that have no equal on the other side.

I call it a tie. Both are fantastic.

I may have to hit one of the brewpubs, which will probably be pretty slow during the festival...

Online sales that is. They give a lot of tickets to outlets (like siciliano's) so it might be worth calling a few.

EDIT: No go at Sicilianos, and Steve said he thinks they are ALL sold out!

EDIT: The MBG website has a list of places selling tickets and they ARE ALL SOLD OUT!

Maybe I can drive down and stand next to the ball park and smell the hops from the road...

I agree with all of that except for expedition. I prefer founders imperial. I just did a side by side of 2011 and 2010 bottles and founders definitely fits my preference.

I am personally judging each comparison. Above in this thread I verified B2H beats Centennial. Next, the stouts.

Expedition wins. Its taste is strong, good, and just plain unique in my experience. Good old fashioned roasty-toasty malt flavor without any funky chocolate/coffee/oatmeal BS. Founders Imperial is pretty good but the taste just does not measure up. For the taste, I give Expedition a 10 and Founders a 8. In terms of creamy mouth-feel, both are a 9 out of 10 (California Brewing Company's Russian Stout is a 10 in this category, but has less taste than either). Try Expedition with a well-made beef pot pie: that is what Charlie Sheen would call "bi-winning."

Can't wait to try the barleywines - I have both but they're new so will have to let them age.

While I love Founders, I would have to say that I personally prefer Bell's. They have much more variety, and I find the majority of their beers more drinkable/sessionable.

Well Right now I am trying Centennial and Two hearted ale side by side. The are at the same temp. No clue on brew dates. Founder's wins for me. The hop aroma of the centennials seem to be fuller. I also think the malt background is better. Looking in the sun, Founder's is quite a bit darker.

I was surprised, every time I had a Founder's before, I thought their beers bot on tap and bottle had too much of a co2 bite for my liking.

So, Founder's wins for me. At least for the Centennial IPA.

Interesting. Centennial IMHO is one of founders weaker beers in their lineup. I love some two hearted, but everything else goes to founders.
