I am doing a Belgium Strong ale tomorrow and I have a few questions.

The grain bill is
12.5 Belgium Pills
.25 Belgium Carmel pills
.25 Biscuit

Does 4 gallons strike water seem about right at 152 degree for 1 hour?

I am wondering how much sparge water? Maybe 5? at 170?
I am doing a batch sparge.
Let me know what you guys think?
Thanks

If you are mashing at 1.25 quarts/pound I get a volume of 4.06 gallons of strike water. I typically mash a little more thin than this but that's just my preference for my equipment. 4 gallons should work well for most.

A temp of 152 should work fine for 60 minutes. I would recommend an iodine test if you are unsure of how long to mash and if conversion is complete.
