Greetings. I am pretty much an extract kit only brewer since I have been told steeping grains in a bag supplied in kits is not true partial mash brewing. (At least I have been told that I am not a partial mash brewer) However, these steeping grains in extract kits really do make a big difference, in my opinion, to the depth and character of my finished extract beers.

My question: My wife likes a certain Belgian beer called Leffe or Leffe Blonde as I think it is labeled. Can anyone suggest an extract kit (and yeast) that would most closely resemble this particular beer? Again, I think if the kit includes grains to steep, the kit is more appealing to me. But I may stand corrected as I understand some Belgian ales may not use steeping grains...not sure??

Thanks for suggestions!!

I have a well known, and popular Leffe Allgrain clone here... and I believe in the thread there is disucssions about partial mash and extrac convrsions of my recipe, using Pilsner extract... I'd scroll through the thread and see.

My buddy Homebrewdad did come up with a partial mash version of it here.

Looks like the consensus from people is to just replace the two-row with either 7.5 pounds of LME or 6 pounds of DME. Mini-mash the rest of the grains and go on with the recipe.

Obviously if you can find Pilsner extract that will get you closer to the original beer. If not I'd say Extralight dme would be the best. Or a late extract addition of liquid.

It's a great recipe. I plan on making it again!
