What would be the best "Beginner" keg system? Looking for the ability to have atleast 2 taps. Would use a chest freezer?

Depends on your budget and what you already have.

Any keg system needs, at a minimum:

- Keg
- Regulator (don't be cheap - buy quality the first time)
- beer line
- CO2 hose
- CO2 tank
- CO2 refills

Where you spend and the quality you buy largely determines what you get.

I have nothing for kegging. I would be shooting for about 400 total budget wise. Found a guy in my area that has a keezer for sale w regulator 2 taps, a third tap optional, CO2 and its wood covered.

You can spend as much or as little as you want.

I got my keg setup from my LHBS for $200 (included 1 corny, 10# co2 tank, dual regulator, gas/liquid tubing, quick disconnects and they even threw in some hose clamps).

For a while I kegged and just stuck it in a fridge and used a party tap.

When I put my keezer together, I found a 5 cu.ft. Chest freezer on CL for $40 and I ordered a dual faucet tower for $150 (I think).

So, basically, you should be able to get what you need for $400

Hi sok454,

Using a chest freezer, you need all the basic components, but just need to decide how you want to dispense.

Some people just use picnic taps initially: http://www.birdmanbrewing.com/keg-kit-2-tap-standard-homebrew/

Some people use faucet/shanks to dispense: http://www.birdmanbrewing.com/keg-kit-2-tap-fridge-homebrew/

Some people actually mount towers on top of their keezers: http://www.birdmanbrewing.com/keg-kit-2-tap-beer-tower-homebrew/

So you'd want to decide how you want to dispense. The picnic tapes are the least expensive.

Best of luck!

I got my system from www.kegconnection.com they seemed to be the best for me. I got 2 corny kegs ( pin lock ). 5# Co2 tank. Regulator. A distributor valve. And all the beer lines to go with it that came to me assembled. Great stuff. For under $ 275.00. And they were running a special on kegs. And other stuff and shipping coast was great $ 7.95 which I thought was awesome !!!! Hope this helps !!
