So I just downloaded Beersmith on my new laptop. How can I download the recipes I already have saved on my other computer onto the new one here? I thought with just entering my product key all my data would have been transferred but I guess thats not the case.

There's a file called Recipes.bsm on your computer in the directory that contains BeerSmith (probably under c:\Program Files\BeerSmith\). Just copy that file to a jumpdrive and move it to the same folder on your new computer.

If you want to carry everything over, including settings and if you have changed any grains, hops, yeast, etc. You can safely copy the entire BeerSmith directory onto your new PC. I synchronize the entire folder on my laptop with my PC just before I open the program on my laptop to make sure both have the latest and greatest data.

Yep, you can also just copy all the files with the extension .bsm -- They contain all the data for everything in BS.
I run my beersmith off my thumb drive. So I can run it at work, or on my desktop, or in the garage on my laptop. All recipes stay there.

Hmm, didn't know this was possible. Cool! What about the license code? I had it on two computers (the max), then got rid of one of them. I suppose I can't use it again for a thumb drive.

This happened to me. I had it installed on my work computer and then my home computer.

They give you 2 uses on your licensing agreement. So you can have it on two computers.
When I installed, it, I installed to the thumb drive, so the code follows. I "could" install on two computers the standard way, but then there is the problem of having settings and recipes to sync between them. Plus, I like being able to work a recipe during "lunch hour" at work...
I'm not sure how Beersmith feels about it, but at least I can only operate it on 1 machine at a time. It's nice when I'm out and someone has a question about the mash or whatnot. I can show them the software on their machine. Nobody has ever done that, but the opp is there.

Yeah, I noticed this when I bought it. I'm one of the few in the world that consider it stealing to violate the digital terms of the agreement (I work in software). However, if I only have it on two computers currently (even though its been three over the course of its life, I'm not sure how they feel about that.
Beersmith is really a cool guy. I got a new computer at work last summer, and I asked him if there was a problem since that would have been #3 for me. I don't know if he physically did anything to grant me permission, but he just had me re--input my original product code.
