In Beersmith, I want to add lactose to my boil 10 minutes from the end. But when I insert lactose in the ingredients list, it automatically says 60mins and I cant find a way to adjust the time I want lactose in the boil for with the software.

Any suggestions?

If you go in and change Lactose from "Sugar" to "Extract" you can change the boil time. I'm not sure what effect this may have on other aspects of its properties in the software, but that's the only way that I can find to change the boil time.

You can change it to "Extract," change the boil time, then change it back to "Sugar." I don't know if that will hold or not, but in a quick trial, it worked for me.

I'm curious is anyone else can answer whether changing the category of items will have any affect on the overall recipe. I heeded to add .5 lbs of dark brown sugar @ 15 mins. I don't see that it had an efect anywhere else when I chnaged it from a Sugar ro and Extract. But I am new to this and have an untrained eye. :)
