Does anyone know, and maybe I'm just missing the feature, if beer smith has a water adjustment for beer styles feature? This is one of the primary reasons I purchased beersmith and it seems that it's lacking this critical feature.

I've loaded my local water profile, and what I was looking for is something that shows what the water adjustment needed for a specific style. It does adjust for a specific water location, but that's a worthless feature... If I want to clone a rogue beer, I can obviously make the adjustment for the Oregon water table, but that's a mute point because Rogue then adjusts their water for the beer they're making anyway.

Hopefully, I'm just missing the feature, and someone more experienced with it can dial me in.

If you know the "rogue beer" profile that the brewer ultimately uses, you can enter it into beersmith and it will adjust your water profile to closely match & save it for future uses.

I understand that, but that's not the intent. I was trying to find profiles for beer styles, ie. an amber ale. A lot of breweries keep their water profiles quite confidential... but even still I'm not looking for one specific beer, I'm looking for the style as a guidelines to adjust from.

Thanks Grathan, looks like I have some more reading to do.

Beersmith doesn't have any feature like that, and I don't think any brewing software does. You can save profiles you want in Beersmith, though.

For guidelines, I like bru'nwater the best. It also helps with predicting mash pH in new recipes.

Thanks, I'll dig into using Bru'n and I'll have to dive into that book too. Hopefully I can get through this topic... not exactly my strongest area of focus lol.

Water changes are pretty tough to discern.

Agreed. Water profile is the last thing I started tampering with after I looked at every other part of the brewing process.
I still don't fully grasp every aspect of water as my books read like Hebrew sometimes and those formulas are a killer.
