Beer kit Weizenbeir advice

I am helping a friend brew his first batch and it's been many years since I brewed beer so I am seeking advice on a beer kit he has that uses a "booster".
He has Weizenbeir HME, no yeast and a bag of booster. I have no experience with the booster but I suspect it may add to much sugar in order to raise the alcohol content. Does anyone have advice on this?
Also, any good recipe recommendations would be great!

No yeast??? Describe the booster. Sure it's not a smack pack of yeast?

Is it Mr. Beer? Their booster can be replaced with DME for better results. I heard from someone on HBT that they stopped using boosters though, so my next question would be: how old is the kit?

Sounds like this is a Mr. Beer kit. It should come with instructions on using the booster.
