Limited packing material on the road, but the Hyatt was generous enough to donate some.

I get to bottle my first SMaSH tonight. Used hops from the garden for the first time and have temp. control now and I used some tabs to try to remove some chlorine from my water. So very excited to see if these little steps make any noticeable difference in my brewing. We also get to bottle our first cider next week. If everything turns out okay, they might make nice filler for some New Years BiF's. I will have it out soon!

Picked up some beer for a recipient and am super excited to send it out! It's been a while since I've BIFed someone and it feels good! My wallet (aka swmbo) isn't as happy about it though lol let's hope the weather is in our favor this week!

Does the shadow cell need a day to settle after shipment or should it get cellared a while?

I would let the HB settle for a day. I had that shadow cell a few weeks back and glad I didnt wait any longer. Fantastic beer! Glad to see a deserving member get hooked up!

She hated mad elf fresh so I assume she won't try the aged one.

With the exception of some very smooth (14bcbs and some others) examples she stays away from stouts and porters.

Seems boozier to me when it's fresh.

With age its more well rounded with more of a woody taste to it from the cherry pits. The booze tapers off a bit with age, but anything more than two years I feel is too long and it starts to oxidize. 1 year or so and its magical.
