I racked a beer into a keg last week and never force carbed or carbed at all. Will I have an oxygen issue or is the beer just fine to sit in there?

I have more kegs than room in the kegerator, so will often rack to a keg to store a batch.

I pressurize the keg with some CO2, vent it to remove any oxygen from the head space, and then pressurize again just to ensure the lid is sealed.

When you pressurize the keg how do you do it? What psi and for how long?

I take the pressure up to 20 to 30 psi (per the regulator gauge), purge and repeat a couple of times. The last round, I don't purge obviously - just remove the gas line and store the keg.

Here is what I do.

  1. Lub the seals and then close the keg up.
  2. Set the regulator for approx 15 psi
  3. Hook up your Co2 bottle to the gas-in port
  4. Open the up the valve and listen for the gas to stop flowing into the keg.
  5. Turn off the regulator
  6. Vent all the gas thru the pressure relief valve
  7. Repeat step 4
  8. Unhook everything
