My wife and I are going to be on vacation in Edinburgh during the next week and will want to sample the local product. Any recommendations for good Scottish beers or local bars/brews? Thanks!!!

McEwans -60 -70 and -80 are a staple.

But just look for anything in a busy pub from a hand pump.

If you can find a pub that is not a tourist or food pub that is busy thenn you'll know people go in there for the beer so you should be okay.

Please try the haggis and white pudding if you get a chance.

Enjoy.

deharris,
This is your lucky day. I have lived here (Edinburgh) for 9 month. The two amazing local beers are Deuchars IPA & Caldonian 80. You can get them almost everywhere. Alot of pub have Deuchars IPA & Caldonian 80 as their standards, then a guest ale. I always try the guest ale.

Two of the better pubs I found are:

Gilford Arms (9 cask ALES, my favorite)

Leslies

The Halfway House is also worth a look.

If you want to buy some interesting beers, Peckhams has a fairly good selection.

PM me if you want any advice on Edinburgh or if you want to grab a pint.
