In April, ALE Agents covertly ordered a keg of beer labeled with the Bud Light brand from an employee at the University General Store. They also obtained samples of the Bud Light on tap at the Spring Garden Bar and Pizzeria. Analysis of both samples indicated the beer was Busch Light in both cases.

The ALE investigation also revealed that employees at Westerwood Tavern were selling Keystone Light beer from a tap, but representing the product to consumers as Coors Light, a more expensive beer.

My thoughts exactly. If you couldnt tell the difference between the cheaper and "pricey" ($17.99 case) beer, then who cares.

Thats what you get for drinking fizzy yellow water

The first sentence of the article is a great set up line:

If you bought a keg in Greensboro, NC you might have gotten some crappy beer with a more expensive label...

That's like shooting fish in a barrel.

I loved reading the comments... wannabe beer snobs come out of the woodwork with ridiculous (dis)information... some dude declares he likes real beer... like Blue Moon. Another guy explains that you should never buy a warm keg because kegged beer is unpasteurized and will go bad. Another dude explains that you need to go to Canada to get unpasteurized beer. Another dude that a keg must always stay cold because it is unpasteurized. Another dude claims that there's more difference between Bud Light and Keystone light than between a $5 and $100 Cabernet. Another dude proudly declares he can pick Sam Adams Boston Lager out of a lineup of other Sam Adams products. Another guy declares that Applebee's has a passable beer selection- always cold, never flat.

LOL WTF!!!!

Though Bud light is far from a premium beer, it at least tastes clean. Stuff like Busch tastes like ass in comparison.

Lol clean? thats because it has no taste almost. Give me a natural light any day over BL. .........Actually now after trying schlitz......give me a schlitz over either one

Also I hear the practice of switching beer with a cheaper variety happens quite a bit. Anyone ever heard of Silky O'Sullivan's on Beale street in memphis? (famous place) anyways I talked to a former bartender there and he said they pull the old switcharoo with miller light subbing kegs of Milwaukee's Best Light. Also heard of a lot of bars putting canadian mist into Crown Royal bottles.

We did this intentionally when we through parties in college. We'd keg a keg of the cheapest piss, usually Beast or natty light, and place a Bud or bud light keg cap on top. Not a single person ever second guessed it and we always got compliments for going "all out on getting good beer" for the party. It was amusing.

This is why if you drink sh*t beer it might as well be the cheapest sh*t you can buy. Im a firm believer that if im not buying a quality beer, then i just look at the price tag. KEYSTONE ICE 5.9abv and only $12.76 at wally world. "it'll have ya F%&kin fat chicks in no time"

I liked one of the comments about how there are more Belgian imports in Philly, than in Amsterdam.

I guess geography isn't that posters strong suit.

Presumably he meant Brussels. This is cited as a fact here, and I've heard it elsewhere:

But hey, it may very well be true about Amsterdam as well, and at least in Amsterdam, Belgian beer is actually an import.

Im not even going to get into this again......

however that statement is so typical. Yes it tastes clean. Brewing an American Light Lager with a clean finish (meaning no noticeable off flavors) is very hard to do. But yet you laugh because it's fizzy yellow beer. Try and brew one yourself, you'll see.

BJCP American Light Lager said:
A lower gravity and lower calorie beer than standard international lagers. Strong flavors are a fault. Designed to appeal to the broadest range of the general public as possible.

/rant

continue with the hate

Yeah, that was kind of my point ... I'm fairly certain he was assuming that Amsterdam was located within the borders of Belgium.

I've gotten into a fight with the owner of a bar over this before. He swore to me up and down the the Sam that I bought was just that...Killians Irish Red or Sam Adams boston lagar... I had a free tab with all my friends that night since I didn't call the cops. And you better belive that I called everyone that I knew and told them to bring friends. :)

Chimone - just because it's hard to do doesn't mean it's good. We've all had it, and a lot of us hate it because of the taste.

That's like saying that moonshine is better than homebrew because it's harder to do. Right.

This happend to me at Fridays not too long ago....we went with our friends after a good night of drinking. I saw they had Newcastle on tap and was like "oh cool, I can try Newcastle and see what it's like without worrying about it being skunked" Yeah, guess what came instead? Shiner Bock....

I like Shiner and all but WTF?

I should have questioned it but I had had too many beers to really care. Plus the young waiter let SWMBO and her friend take thier "ultimate" whatever drinks to-go...which I thought was funny. Walking out with styrofoam cups full of margarita was kinda cool...

LOL that is hilarious.. the comments just made my day. Although while I enjoy good beer im not above drinking the cheap stuff when Im on a mission. Hell before i learned what good beer was I was drinking Miller Lite and thought I was a man. Its just some of these people havnt had their horizons broadened yet.

Before you know it some of them will be drinking AmberBock wich tastes like bud light with choc. malt in it. Then they will be adventerous enough to try some more flavorfull things.

But you cant completely diss the fizzy yellow drinks, because when your on a mission they still get the job done.. you just have to pee a lot more to get there.

here you guys go, you should love this one
