At the beginning of the year I purchased a Vinotemp wine cellar for $300. I did a lot of contemplation and research on the subject of cellaring beer sideways and such… and after some debates on BA and with other people who cellar, I found no scientific evidence for upright versus sideways. And most everything I hear from beer cellar peeps is speculation about leaks, rust, sediment… As far as I can tell, over the past year or so, is that if I want to a share a beer that I am worried about sediment being on the side of the bottle is that I have to put it upright for 24 hours or so before I drink it. Beers that I am especially concerned with this are lambics and most sours, which also means I need a limbic basket

… Otherwise I am very happy with my $300 purchase, especially since they run $3000+… I see them still occasionally on craigslist. Cheers!
