Molinari and Freddie's In North Beach?

With respect to BBQ sandwiches I like the Superhero at Los Gatos Meats (South Bay)

So far, so good:

Gracias Madre was wonderful, loved the plantains with mole sauce, but the tamale my partner got was even better.

Burma Love was ridiculously delicious. Tea Leaf salad and Fiery tofu.

Shizen was the most impressive as far as the flavors they pulled out and the inventiveness for vegan sushi.

Hella Vegan had a nice quesadilla w some interesting strawberry? Hot sauce. Cool cars there too and nice local tap list.

Timeless coffee was very nice and amazing vegan pastries.

Lake Merritt and Mountain View cemetery were beautiful.

November Project + Lyon Street stairs was fun this am.

Dinner tonight and then some whiskey and beer:)

Hitting up toronado at any point?

Shizen was an awesome discovery. Great spot for when my wife was pregnant and scaled the sushi consumption back.

Sadly moving (not far!), so will miss this and other places.

Idk both their shoyu and shio are made in the kitakata style which is my favorite and much less of a Meat milkshake. Also would reccomend the abura soba and maze soba which are soup-less but saucy.

I love Mensho. I definitely recommend hitting it up late night, after Millenium. Mensho is open until 11:30....I think. The Tori Paitan is the go to, but all of the vegetarian options are also amazing.

Which isn't to say that Tori paitan isn't amazing, just to say that I wouldn't limit yourself to that one as the rest of the menu is equally amazing and a lot less heavy.

Looks good!
Millennium was ridiculously good, they also made a great rye and ginger with a house made ginger syrup. Swung by Mikkeller Oakland after, and as much as I wanted to have one, I couldn’t bring myself to pay $9 for a 25cl glass of taras boulba.

Friday did November Project hill runs on Strawberry hill, then Burma Love for lunch, again :)

Bay Area was a lot of fun, great food and people. Thanks for all the tips!

See some of you in PDX in August. :)

Cheers

Tlo4sho's bday / SARAthon 2018
(anything stacked behind are duplicates)

An employee told me that they are adding a foudre(s?) next door and will have some sort of an ongoing collaboration with NB/Oude Beersel to produce a wild ale. I'm not sure if they are creating a full on wild program w/a coolship or plan on doing some sort of wort exchange. I'm hoping some of that Hunter's Point nuclear funk will shine through in the finished product, mix in a little hobo **** and you've got some real terroir going on.

Happy to see they are ditching the BBQ, it was an embarrassment to actual BBQ.

So far as I know, they will be bringing in lambic from OB and then continuing to age it in wood in SF. No idea if they'll also do wild fermentation here.

Yeah that makes sense. I wonder if they plan on using OB wort to inoculate the foudre for the initial batch and then brew the subsequent batches onsite, would save a nickel on the ole UPS account.

I'm flying in tomorrow as I posted in the Cellarmaker thread, will be at the release. I come to the bay a good bit, so I'm not a total noob. After reading a few pages, Mensho is definitely on the list. I often hit Burma Superstar, but my buddy that was living in the east bay for years recommended Donut Delight Express for the weekend Burmese, going to give that a whirl this time. Also he told me Clove and Hoof is cool and probably not too far from where I'll be staying in Berkeley.

I'm around till the 28th. If any of you guys want to drink, touch tips, smoke reefer, or whatever it is you weirdo left coast guys do, drop me a line. I'm probably going to rent a car and roll to SARA one day next week (definitely going just planning logistics once I'm there). If anyone might be going, maybe we could carpool, and I won't need to do that.

What days will you be at/around the Toronado?

I may stop back in Toronado today or tomorrow if anyone wants to split some bottles. I'm on Valencia now going to hit Cellarmaker again a little later for cans. It wasn't crazy earlier today, so I didn't want to lug them all around the city.
