$17 is a lot, but most sandwiches in the city are at least $10-12, some are more. DB uses top notch ingredients & is well worth the extra few bucks. Best sandwiches in the city, imo. Ymmv
$19 for a Reuben in San Carlos/Menlo Park and it's worth every penny:

Haven't had this place yet, but I remember Yellow Submarine by the park being pretty bomb [last had in early 2013]. Looking at their Insta, I think I'd prob agree with you.

Refuge is the best Reuben I've had in the Bay Area (haven't had Wise Sons yet). It should at least come with a latke for that price tho.

Having worked right by Wise Sons, I can tell you it's nothing special. Not had Refuge, but if it's your top I bet it's better than Wise Sons.

I still don't understand why people go crazy over certain sandwich shops. I mean, it's a sandwich, FFS. Cold cuts. Cheese and stuff. I could probably make it just as good at home, and with better bread to boot...

IMO, the only sandwich shops worth fawning over are the ones that roast/smoke/barbecue their own meats. (Maybe Deli Board does this, I don't know. It didn't leave a particularly strong impression when I visited, especially for flipping $17.)

I same the same thing regarding Asian food (esp Thai). They all taste the same to me, but I'll argue with you over the minor nuances of a great sandwich shop compared to a very good one.

You guys are both wrong. Haha

Alternatively: people have different tastes. I certainly wouldn't appreciate exquisite Thai food just like I wouldn't appreciate an exquisite Bordeaux.
Do you understand why other people might go crazy over places that do those things well, even if you yourself aren't refined enough in those areas to tell the difference?

Immigration at SFO is awesome, and by awesome I mean a cluster ****, especially with only 2 agents after a 12hr flight!

Now in another line for rental car; so ready for dinner and beer at Good Karma!
Wife and daughter both have interviews for global entry tomorrow. **** waiting in that line for customs.

Intellectually, sure. Just like I can understand childless adults who go to Disneyland 10X a year by saying "we all got our things". But I don't really grok it (I hate that word but it is useful).

Also, for all you know archagon is a sandwich wizard! I stopped ordering pulled pork at places because it's rare to find any significantly better than I can make.
