They lost me at 1 beer.

If anyone wants a beer at Alvarado St in Monterey on Thursday, or SARA at opening on Friday let me know.
Otherwise I will be drinking alone.

Damn, I'm going to miss you at SARA by a few hours tomorrow!

tl:dr Lucky you

I've been informed that Lagunitas High West-ified has been recalled on the West coast. Anyone know the details?

SO I should not have been able to buy bottles of it last week? I already send out bottles to people.

I'm not really willing to stake my reputation and possibly other peoples careers by going into great detail but for my own consumption, i'm convinced. I was going to buy a case to drink over the next two years and now i'm thinking 1-2 bottles going straight into the fridge.

Another fact: High Westified has always been draft only/no growlers in Petaluma, now they are doing growlers all the sudden and grinding through it. ...and the six packs never appeared in the gift shop.

So wait you're saying they're planning on releasing a known infected product without telling people?
What he is doing with this post is employing tact. It's a crazy concept, I know.

Huh, I never saw those around. I remember liking the SF IPA, probably would have bought a sixer had I ever seen one.

Well the first round of the cans released had accidentally been "oxegyn purged" and got recalled. I waited til supposedly new ones were out, bought a sixer of Pilsner and, you guessed it... bad beer.

I was able to return it but the store claimed no knowledge of the recall. Undermined my confidence and I walked right past em since. I cant be the only one.

I actually liked their non ba beers more than any of their sours (though I've heard they have gotten better).

Their best beer I've had is still their first batch of the BA Pumkin beer. It was in brandy and rum barrels and was amazing. The next yr it was infected as **** and awful, and never saw it again after that. The other BA Non sours I've had were solid as well. Had one of their stouts on tap at BR this summer that was really good.

I generally root for Almanac since I first got excited about those 750mL seasonal releases they did back in 2011ish. More often than not, I'm let down by their offerings, but I value their presence. It's great to have good 375mL sours (now that they are actually fruit forward) for like $10 chilling on the shelf. Some of their barrel stouts have been surprisingly good too (the Dynamo Donut one in particular). But yeah, I don't have a need for canned pilsners, the IPA was meh when I had it recently, and I never sought out the other two (though I kinda wish I grabbed the saison). So I'm cool with this decision, I just hope they stick around in general.

Their customer service is also TOP NOTCH. I had a beer of theirs at CBS 2 yrs ago and then later that week at Perdition in Berkeley (RIP) and the berkeley keg was clearly infected. I emailed them to let them know as a heads up, and they thanked me for letting me know (the keg was taken off at Perdition) and sent me swag + beers for emailing them. Thought that was awesome, and if I see their beers on tap I usually get one for my experience.

they have a taproom in the city that is super close to opening. I'm excited to go check it out. From their instagram post the art on the wall is dope!
