Mikkeller is opening a tasting room / Bottle shop in Rockridge http://mikkelleroakland.com/

I don't drink much Mikkeller as I generally find it ridiculously and unnecessarily expensive. But hey, I can't afford to live in Rockridge either.
"See, that's the unsettling thing about Rockridge...even the dogs are blonde," my wife once said while pointing at a golden lab from the patio at Barclays.

I lose track of the partnerships, but anywhere in Rockridge puts it remarkably close to Trappist Provisions.
Speaking of Provisions, maybe I'm just an idiot for just realizing this, but their markup on bottles is insane. $22.00 for Beachwood bottles whereas they're going for $15.00 at other spots. Their draft selections are decent though, and Southie next door has bomb sandos.

Cantillon Vigneronne - $50 at Provisions - $26 at Berkeley Bowl

Yeah, I've pretty much given up on buying anything but the very occasional bottle from them

Well, we all know The Trappist is synonymous with bargain prices...

****!

Need to check out this East Bay people keep talking about. Haven't been back since '08
Only been the old one once in my life. Berkeley Bowl West is where you want to head. To be honest, not actually sure they ended up on the shelf or not this time around, however they do often stick bottles out on the shelf one at a time. Guy brought me one out from the back last week when I was in there.

Need to get a bit lucky with your timing or have better connections than I do. Though one time I did find Fou and Iris on shelf there. They said they stopped announcing when Loons were being put out because people would line up before opening and literally run to the shelves... Nice.

The email newsletters never make this clear, but unless their plans have changed dramatically from what I've been told, the "new" Mikkeller spot is basically just a re-branding of the current Trappist Provisions. So think of it as "the same prices you know and love, crappier taplist!".

Very true, but since I live/work much closer to Provisions, and I'm friends with many of the staff there, I at least have a chance at scoring a bottle there when they go up. There's basically zero chance I'd get to BB West in time when they get 'loons.

Yea, that sucks.

**** man, I don't need TWO bay area spots inundated with very expensive, very mediocre Mikkeller beer.

Man, I gotta stop by BBW like daily.

That would make more sense. Wasn't MikkellerSF openend in partnership with the Trappist-Ol-Provisions folks, or am I way off?
Yeah, they're all part of the growing Chuck Stilphen craft-beer empire. Both apt as well as ironic, when one considers how Chuck spent his younger years:

If this is a tasting room for Mikkeller SD then it shouldn't be as ankle grabbing. I got a 2L growler of rauche geek breakfast for less than $20.

Mikkeller SF is not nearly as reasonably priced. Though for SF, it's not that far out of line either.
