no throwing knives I can see...
Gotcha. Yah I got a case last year and gave/sold a couple four packs to friends. What bugged me was that a liquor store owner got 3 cases to resell. I wouldn't mind if I was limited to a 4pk. If probably buy 2x4pks this year.Lol, not against people getting cases of it. But limits make it a peice of cake to score at least some 4 packs.
Anyone else head over to Cleophus Quealy this weekend for their soft opening? I went today, tried all 8 beers, thought the quality was pretty high overall, especially considering that they're brand new. Batch #6 (Golden Ale) was legitimately awesome, and the Weiss is solid, as are a few other beers. I'd recommend stopping by to see what you think, especially if you're planning on heading to Drake's (they're pretty close).
x-post
****, I got 4 bottles of this just sitting there I picked up a month ago. May have to open one this weekend and see what's up before it gets worse if infected. Dammit, I was really looking forward to tearing these up over the winter, one of my favorites.
448 Hester St in San Leandro. It's up the road from Drake's, that same area near the airport. I don't know if they're open for realz yet, but they probably will be next weekend.Never heard of this place, where is it?
second closest brewery to me ( after Drakes) thanks for the encouraging news. Will try and stop in next weekend.Anyone else head over to Cleophus Quealy this weekend for their soft opening? Glad to hear the beer is better than the name.Anyone else head over to Cleophus Quealy this weekend for their soft opening? Yeah it's a goofy name. I think they're both old family names or something. The general vibe of the place is pretty nice too, redwood furniture, old wood paneling on the walls, etc. It's pretty well done for a brand new brewery.Glad to hear the beer is better than the name.

I remember a few years ago, when he first became infamous for line-cutting, HaveUSeenMyCellar was insistent that it was all some misunderstanding that he was a scumbag. Fast forward to a few years later, and he's still pulling the same old ****. Really disappointing that people like him exist in the beer scene.
Did you taste it and find out?
Almanac got back to me really quickly and offered almost the same apology quoted above, with a request for my address. I got curious and looked for a bottling date on my remaining bottle (there was none). Then I checked my K&L receipt, and realized that I had purchased the bottles on 8/29. There is no way I have a bottle from one of their infected 9/2 or 9/3 bottlings. I told them thanks, but I am not owed any replacements, and I suggested they look into earlier bottlings for contamination. We'll see.
I love-love-loved last year's batches. This year's Heirloom Barleywine was disappointing. If the tartness was intended, it's not a beer I need to buy again.
I was at Drake's Saturday but hadn't heard of it yet. I'll have to stop in next time I'm over there. Thanks for the tip!Anyone else head over to Cleophus Quealy this weekend for their soft opening? It's really started to blow in the past few years. Maybe they've turned it around, I dunno, but it's basically become a bunch of okay-to-good local shelf/taproom beers, with nothing really special at all.Anyone headed to Bistro's BA beerfest this weekend?

I mean, if you're not expecting mega whalez bro it's probably a decent way to showcase the area's local BA beers. Just don't expect to be blown away. Thanks for the input.
I had a friend move into town after living in Florida the last few years, so I was thinking of going with her just to give her an idea of wtf we're doing out here.
Ironically she has been to Cigar City many times, but never had Hunahpu until this weekend when I opened one at a party. What're the odds, eh?
What sort of stuff did they have in previous years?I mean, if you're not expecting mega whalez bro it's probably a decent way to showcase the area's local BA beers. Just don't expect to be blown away.
They had Yellow Bus one year, didn't they? What sort of stuff did they have in previous years?
I mostly remember being disappointed and a Drake's beer winning "people's choice". I think it was heavily tilted toward sours. What sort of stuff did they have in previous years?
Yeah, there's a picture somewhere of a list from 2009 or maybe even earlier that had like DDG, a Veritas, Yellow Bus, and a bunch of other crazy ****. Now I don't think LA even shows up.They had Yellow Bus one year, didn't they?
Gonna have a free afternoon in SF tomorrow that I plan to hit up some breweries/bottle shops/bars. Staying right by union square. Suggestions for closest best spots to hit up if I only have an afternoon?
We have cancelled them the last 2 months, but "in general" they are the first Saturday of the month at noon on the back patio.Sorry to interject, but does anyone know if Original Gravity still hosts bottleshares? I'm super out of the loop.

At this point we have the next one scheduled for Dec 6th at noon, but as above it has been kind of "fluid" the past couple of months, drop me a private message here or on BA for more details.Sweet! Though, I figured everyone would've been at SARA this past Saturday. Any chance there's one this month or next?
I like Mikkeller. It's pricy, but they generally have some reasonable stuff on tap and it's a cool place to chill. Plus if you want to drop some dough there's usually something worthwhile in the fridge.City Beer Store and Cellarmaker. They are one block apart and a nice walk or cab/Uber/Lyft/Muni ride from Union Square.
City beer Store has bottles and a good taplist and Cellamaker has killer hops. Just walker beware if you decide to head there from Union Square do not take 6th street. Just skirt around it by a block or two. It isn't horrible and I walk it all the time, just a heads up. Also skip Mikkeller.

Working on it. Fingers crossed for a barrel of Wyld Stallyns 2. So polarizing. It should be our official beer.
Is that pic for reals about haveuceenmycellar? That chainI mean, I intentionally dress/look like a goofball sometimes, but damn, that guy looks straight out the eastern bloc.
