Also **** everyone saying toronado sucks. That bar still ******* rules. You guys have just become total ******* about how high of calibre your Taplists need to be. $6 pints of nelson, cellarmaker IPAs, etc... Just because it's not west ashley or w/e your lofty palates are requiring these days doesn't make it a bad bar.
I think the vast majority of those ripping Toronado don't live in SF. I cannot begin to express what a huge difference that tends to make on your impression of the place.

This 100. The ability to go here, bounce to moltov's to play pool, go anywhere, so noice. Thankful every day I live in this beautiful city.

Or, you're so new at this that you're impressed by everything. ;)

I remember calling them "a decent neighborhood bar" and getting **** for that, too.

I certainly didn't give you **** for that. Toronado is definitely not worth traveling for. It is very worth walking to.

Never been..not arsed. Under imptessed with the SD version.

Not sure i am spoilt..just so many options of comparable options.

BA Narwhal and BA Maple Stout should be hitting up the Torpedo Room this weekend if I read Sierra Nevada's facebook post correctly.
Sundaygets better and better... here and Rare Barrel fill.

Monday might suck, but **** it.

Under impressed with the San Diego one? What bars are you impressed by?

My opinion is that the San Diego version is what the San Francisco one should be. Great beers on tap, clean space, good specials. What's not to like, besides that it's not closer to my house?

Maybe i went on a bad night? I thought food sucked, thought bartenders were rude. Beer was fine, I had a few great beers, but vibe wasn't right. I left after an hour or so.

As for bars? Used to like Beer Rev and Trappist, I could live with Commenwealth Cafe vibe I guess. Wasnt looking to offend, just expresssing my opinion.

Not offended, just surprised.

You might actually like Tornado SF, it has that somewhat grungy feel like Beer Rev.

Hit up Beer Rev tonight, what with the extensive Goose Island taplist plus Alpine Duet on tap it was almost like old times. Almost, of course, because the heavy BCBS variants pours were $10 per 10oz, and since when did the sour fridge get taken over with various 6-packs

That said the GI beers were tasting great. Love me some Backyard Rye.

Beer Rev was not doing well business-wise for quite a while, it's kinda sorta under new management now and it seems to be working a lot better now. Unfortunately things like pricier draft pours for specials and the six pack fridge are the costs.

Also, would someone be able to tell me if there are stores within SF proper that carry RR sours? I'm trying to avoid having to drive up to RR (since I'd rather visit SARA). Just want to bring home some Temptation, Consecration & Supplication is all.

If you are unable to get some bottles, let me know. I could always swing up there, grab a few, and bring them down.

Toronado is similar to Cheers if everyone treats you like an *******, didn't know your name, and there is a **** load of Norms.

SRS, Toronado can be a good time and have had some great evenings there, most recently the past Cable Car release. Went with some good friends, met some people, and made some Cable Car cuvees. Now I like to go on a weekend day when it might not be crazy crowded and hit up Rosamunde. Or the random Tuesday off when they got the burger.

Toronado was better as recently as two years ago. Since then it's been downhill with the beer selection, at least.

I would much prefer if they focused heavily on featuring a diverse, changing selection of good local beers. They have the reputation and ability to make it happen probably better than anyone else out there.

In fact, that's the one weird thing about the Bay Area - there are very few bars that focus exclusively on local beers and feature frequently rotating taps. In other big cities across the country, those types of bars are pretty common.

In the past 2 months I've had Supplication, PNC, Erudition, Cable Car, Black Butte XVXVUIXVIXVXIVXI or w/e, Laces Out, Duality #1+2, Nelson, etc etc at toronado... how u h8in

Because in the past two months every bar in the bay area has had all that stuff. (Excepting, obviously, the Toronado-only bottles, which in my experience are hardly ever on any more, though that may have changed.) The point is that there's nothing that makes Toronado special any more, or that the stuff that does is available so rarely it's not worth going unless you live nearby.

If I want a pint of Nelson I'm going to go somewhere that will serve me without attitude and where I can take a piss without stepping in someone else's.
