thanks Ryan. so they don't get delivered on the semi-reg? my friend who lives out there said SF gets its RR delivery on Wednesday...is that just Pliny?

Yep. That is usually just Pliny, and that flies off the shelf in a matter of hour(s). Blind Pig use to come once or twice a month, but no more and Pliny was at least around for a few day(s).

Yep Temptation was the last release, and I haven't seen any bottles for a while. They went quick.

You might run into a bottle of Damnation, but that is all.
Saw Temptation at Beer Rev last Weds. Toronado seems to have a stock of RR bottles that people seem to forget about.

Pliny is nice and all but I've drank a billion of them. Dang, guess I need to decide if I want to spend Thursday driving up to RR to buy bottles & have lunch (and visit Beercraft on the way home for other stuff), or drive south to SARA...dangit

you around? want to grab a beer or 4?

I've been meaning to ask this for weeks but am so forgetful, are people interested in getting the Bay Area tastings going again at Beer Rev? Things seem to have settled down there, and we have a reasonable platform for it here, and I'm realizing that there are tons of people I don't know and those were great for putting faces to the avatars. Plus I don't try nearly as much wacky beer as I used to.

Anyway I can organize the first few, I'll take suggestions for dates/times and ask my buddy who works there what he thinks.

I went to a few of these before and would def be down again, probably more consistently than before. Sundays would be fine with me, after the 10AM games (Browns) or Thursdays. They were a lot of fun before, hopefully we can get them going again.

Come to the East Bay, I've seen Temptation as recent as today on a shelf.

Anyone want to grab lunch/beers on Monday? Looking like I'll have the day free. Pretty sure I'm just gonna park myself at Toro unless anyone has a better idea.

Toronado kinda sucks now, I wouldn't spend the whole day there (unless their menu has changed a lot). I'd do more of a BART tour and hit up places like Cellarmaker, CBS, Beer Rev, various trappists, etc.

Well that's disappointing. Cellarmaker is closed on Mondays unless I read the hours wrong. I'll be back in town for a few more days the following week and was planning on doing Cellarmaker/CBS one of those days. But yeah I'll take any and all suggestions for places to go next Monday. Just looking to have some good beers/day out. No car so definitely not going up to RR

Well you can stop by Toronado but I doubt you'll want to spend the day there. You could try going to Beer Rev/Trappist/Trappist Provision/all-the-other-new-places-along-Telegraph.

Cool will definitely make note of those places. Thanks

I lived around the corner from Toronado for over five years and hardly ever went there as a "beer destination" (vs. a spot to drink with friends). I think the bottle list is still impressive, though right?

If you get lucky. The anniversary party sucked ass.

Lunch is the best time to check out Monk's Kettle. Plus they have a new patio (depending on weather)!

Ping me if you end up in the city, I can usually use a break from work. Another good spot might be Magnolia (relatively close to Toronado so you could stop by after lunch or something -- yeah, it's not magic, but they have a good taplist and are totally worth a visit if you're coming from out of town).

Mags has awesome food too.

I actually stayed down the block from Magnolia when I was in the city last year. Was only able to stop in for a quick beer after one of the nights at Outside Lands. I'll send you a message though. I'm staying at a friend's down by AT&T Park, but pretty sure he's working for the day on Monday so I'll be out and about

Toronado pretty much sucks

Where the **** were you people when I was saying this years ago on BA and getting slammed for it? Stale taplist surpassed by nearly every other beer bar in the area, hit-and-miss bottles, ****** service... None of this has changed in the past 3 years, and now people are catching on?!?!

Three years ago the bar manager was a friend of a friend. That made things quite a bit better. (Plus there was routinely Cable Car bottles for sale in 2011/2012.) Also, a year ago, right after Dave came back, he did a cellar firesale and so there were lots of great bottles to be had. It's really been in the past year that going there has become largely pointless, even for events, which is the real sad thing to me (since I never really went for non-events anyway).

Sorry I hadn't been there 2 yrs ago. I've recently had the "pleasure" of going there a few times in the past yr and thats when I made up my mind.

Let's get drunk!
Also **** everyone saying toronado sucks. That bar still ******* rules. You guys have just become total ******* about how high of calibre your Taplists need to be. $6 pints of nelson, cellarmaker IPAs, etc... Just because it's not west ashley or w/e your lofty palates are requiring these days doesn't make it a bad bar.

I think the combo of ****** service+comparable tap list to other places with better service+I'd rather drink down my cellar is what makes me think Toronado is ******. If I'm actually gonna go out of my way to a bar it wouldn't be Toronado. It's not a bad bar if you're nearby though.

I can understand that. I just feel like openly slagging them is a little rediculous considering what they provide for their neighborhood and have done for the beer community as a whole. Oh and cable car.

That's what I was getting at before with it not going as a beer destination but a dive-ish bar (with a good beer list) I've had good times at with friends. Not sure I'll visit much now that I don't live so close.
