Srs question: most people I've seen around here with substantial wine cellars have added some sort of earthquake-proofing to it.

Did the wineries and collectors in Napa not do it because they didn't think there'd be a powerful earthquake up there? Or wat?

Another heads up:
Due to a scheduling mixup in the brewery, Tiny Dankster Pale Ale will not be on tap tomorrow, Tuesday the 26th. Instead it will be available Wednesday the 27th. Sorry for the confusion.

Good news - "Coffee and Cigarettes" makes its return tomorrow (read today, Tuesday) and will be available for growler fills while supplies last.

Thanks,
The Cellarmaker Team

I was wondering this too. I'm incredibly paranoid about earthquakes and don't even think what I've done is actually adequate against something that size. I can't imagine having hundreds of thousands of dollars of my own product exposed like that.

Though if you're talking about barrels there might just not be able choice. Every place I've seen has them stacked in the same manner. There might not be any good solutions.

Also, Kelly told me over the weekend that their anniversary party is the weekend of Oct 11, with the possibility of it being Fri-Sun.

I think I'll finally stop by tonight. I've got a dentist appointment in the afternoon near the old hood and might bum around SF afterward until traffic dies down. Looks like they have some kind of wild saison that might interest me. Great IPAs and stouts don't really excite me much, unfortunately, which is probably why I have yet to go.

*edit* Coffee and Cigarettes might be pretty good.

I am the worst for making my final opinion on first impression/ no impression at all. I am also known as being stubborn as **** and standing by my first impression and being a pain in the arse to move on.

Cellarmaker sounded ******* great to me, last week I managed to stop by ..Bartenders Breakfast was great, as was Daphne and the other one I enjoyed. I loved the place.

I judge people/places before I met them/ go their...
Like I seriously judge. I knew Cellarmaker would be good....i was right. go....enjoy it.

Yeah, it was a cool spot. A bit crowded (happy hour times) and a bit understaffed. Would have liked to try more, but I had to drive/hit up that other nearby beer spot. Coffee and Cigs was particularly good at first. Though my pallet seemed to adjust to the coffee after awhile and it was less noticeable.

not sure what you prefer but if you like IPA's, anything from their Dank line is pretty damn good.

New batch of Great Beer on at Russian River. They tweaked the recipe for the better. It is a lot hoppier and would fall under the hoppy session ale category. They also are selling bottles to go.
Last year's batch was way better than the original. I actually drank it multiple times, instead of once just to try it

I'm going to be on the Bay Area next week for a week or so with the wife. Is there anywhere to get styro shippers?

Also, I've never been out there before but we are spending five days in Sonoma for a wedding and some drinking, staying at The Lodge for the wedding and The Eldorado in Sonoma for two more days. Besides RR, any other must go places? Not just for beer but for food, etc.

Also staying downtown in SF at The Scarlet Huntington for three days. Same as above, anywhere I need to go?

I'll return the favor of suggestions in Michigan if anyone needs them. I'll admit I'm too lazy to look through this whole thread.

Are you shipping or checking them? BevMos have tolerable ones for checking, but they're too obvious to ship. Bottle Barn in Santa Rosa has good ones for shipping.

I personally love Lagunitas which is about 10 minutes from Russian River. They have some cool offerings that aren't bottled and fresh Lagunitas is pretty ******* hard to beat, and they have a great outdoor patio. I haven't gone on their tour in a couple years but even then it was cool seeing how big they are, and I know they've grown since.

ALSO, across the street from Russian River is Flavor Bistro, which features six taps from Moonlight Brewing. If you've never had Moonlight, prepare to have your mind blown by their amazing lagers and other beers. Especially Death and Taxes!!

The Carneros Bistro and Wine Bar is located at the Lodge and they always have Pliny on tap and have a really good happy hour. Olde Sonoma Public House in the northern part of Sonoma has great taps. If you take Highway 12 from Sonoma to Santa Rosa I recommend hitting up Rincon Valley Tap Room and Bottle Shop in Santa Rosa.

On the 101 corridor in Sonoma County you have the big 3 (RR, Lagunitas, and Bear Republic). All are worth your time. Lagunitas' tap room is open W-Su. RR is best to hit on a weekday at opening or between 2-3 in the afternoon. I would also recommend Taps and Rays Deli in Petaluma and Beer Craft in Rohnert Park.

In SF CellarMaker, City Beer, and Toronado are all good places.

Awesome. I'm already going to Lagunitas with the rest of the husbands whose wives are in the wedding. Probably going to hit RR early in Monday. And it's nice to hear that the bar in the hotel is nice. Thanks again.

If you have a car and you're up for the drive and want to see the Santa Cruz area, head down to Sante Adairius and you won't be disappointed.

Taps in Petaluma and Beercraft are very goo dplaces to go. Beercraft has a small little tasting area but they ALWAYS have some awesome stuff on. They also sell bottles there. The paninis at Lagunitas are tasty as well. If you have time and want a good pizza, hit up Old Chicago downton Petaluma. It's pretty damn good. There are also some very good eateries downtown as well if you are looking for a more fancy dinner type setting.

I can't remember the name of it, but if Taps has their bison burger on the menu, you must get it. It is amazing.

I'll be staying at the Holiday Inn Civic Center so I'll be right by Cellarmaker and City Beer Store. I still have 1 more day to plan for. Any suggestions? How does the itinerary look so far? I was wanting to rent a car and go to SARA and Monterrey but that isn't going to work out. How is Fort Funston? Is there any public transit to Muir Woods or the Marin Headlands? We will not have a car.

Also, my buddy really wants to try Cable Car. Is it pure luck at Toronado or is there any trick to getting a bottle for consumption? If that's not really realistic and someone would be willing to share a Cable Car and/or West Ashley (my personal should have had but haven't) we have plenty of beers we could bring. Speaking for myself - Zwanze 2010, Selection Lambic 99, 1980's Rodenbach, De Neve, Fou Foune, St. Lamvinus, Matt, AftW, Wild Peach, Hommage, and/or BA9k. I know my buddy has VSB and Earl of Biggleswade that I could probably convince him to bring.

Thanks for the help.

IMO, you’re missing out if you don’t do an east bay day. Rare Barrel, Drakes (I’m normally not a fan but their tasting room tap list is always interesting), Beer Revolution, Faction, St. George’s spirits…
