Yeah I didn't realize there were kids involved, just Uber/Lyft. SFO now has a designated waiting area for rideshares, I don't remember exactly where it is but there are signs.
Looks like they've recently changed it for "Pool" Uber pickups, but all others will pick you up on the Departures level.

Sorry for the million questions all, but...

Had planned to "casually" drop in here, but if it's closed by Friday/Saturday....any other beer shop recommendations? Likely just window-shopping or buying hotel beers, but there's always room in the suitcase for a couple of prizes :D

Edit: looks like the official close is 7/31, so I may still be good, but still take recs anyway. Thanks!

Toronado has a bottle list to go and you can enjoy some good beers, conversations and a sausage from next door.

Otherwise, check out a Healthy Spirits location for a decent bottle shop.

Also Whole Foods tend to have surprisingly good beer selections, though I don't know which ones in the city are any good. Might be easier to do on a family trip.

I second the Healthy Spirits, prob Castro location. Also, Ales Unlimited (2 locations) has a good selection, and Plumpjack in Noe. If you’re looking for cans, either BiRite location may have some good locals. May also want to follow cellarmaker on instagram in case they have a can release, too.

Are the East Bay WF stores still good for beer? I can tell you that many in the city and north bay are quite meh now...like barely a step above Safeway. My understanding is that they stopped having people who focus on beer buying a few years ago to save $ which is why their selections have gotten so homogeneous. It's gotten to the point where it's almost not even worth looking at the beer section if you're there for something else. 4th St. in SOMA is an exception, likely because of the bar. Also, agreed on the other suggestions.

The newer one in Berkeley on Gilman is solid. The rest, nah.

Castro Healthy Spirits is walkable to Toronado. That's a good 1-2 punch for to go stuff.

K&L is probably the best beer store in the Bay, though most of the trendy stuff doesn't end up on shelves. If you get on the beer-specific mailing list, new releases drop on Wednesday and you can pick up in store for free 1-2 days after that. Same day if the stock is already in SF.

(Alternatively, just refresh this list around 2-3pm on Wednesday to see the latest goodies.)

I'd also suggest stopping by The Market on 1355 Market St. They have some pretty interesting stuff sometimes since no one knows about it: Parabola, A&G, etc. just sitting on the shelf for weeks. Plus, good pizza slices.

I've heard about this shop in the Ferry Building before, but where exactly inside of it? The wine bar and shop has some beers, but they didn't have anything remotely special last time I was there and looked.

It is not the wine shop/bar, it is the Ferry Building Marketplace. Head to the back house right corner.

LOL @ prices on the second and third page (scroll through).

GM and Cuir is about what you pay at the Bruery, not terrible actually.

Still bant from their IG page for commenting about IPAs in the window in direct sunlight back in 2013. Butthurt lives.

Love the type of person that when you bring something important to their attention, they take their ball and go home.

I haven't been to City Beer in years and I have no plans to go anytime soon. But if someone wants to splurge on that EC Eclipse from 2009, I could be convinced to go halfsies on it.
