I got offered a bunch of New Glarus at Cork & Bottle last night.

I don't support those ******** practices of trading for and reselling beer illegally, but if anyone else is ISO, have at it.

What ya got?

That's the first I've heard of them doing that, and I used to go there somewhat frequently, but it doesn't surprise me at all. The last time I was there Sat recognized me and sold me an Iris (for a totally reasonable price too), so I can't complain about them too much.

Ever been to Perry's? I was shocked at what I found there a couple weeks ago.

<- Captain Obvious. My bad. I quoted him without putting 2 and 2 together. **** is lolz.

Who's the beer buyer at Perry's? Anyone know? Look like he made a trip to Bend recently based upon his inventory when I was there.

Perry's is one of the many places I am banned from.

I also helped cost them their RR account.

Supposedly Diego got pushed to Livermore Saloon. Now Harpreet does most of the beer buying, I imagine, but his whole family is in on the scam.

I thought it was Harpreet. I also think those beer trips of theirs are hilarious, there's no way they're actually worth their time, even with the prices they charge. I mean, if you ignore car costs/depreciation, sure, but with it...

Well considering many of us pay good sums of money to go on beer trips like that... as long as he recovers some of the costs of the trip he's probably doing okay. Not a Perry's fan myself, just sayin...

What are they doing?

Driving to Bend, filling growlers of BY and buying bottles of Sahalie, then reselling them?

That doesn't make it a good business decision. Plus I doubt he'd be making those trips regardless, which is the prerequisite you'd need to be able to justify writing off those expenses.

They had Ale Apoth bottles of Sahalie and Sahati at ~$10 over retail. They also had room temperature Crux IPAs that had been sitting in the heat and light for a few weeks (based upon bottle date). Since it's highly unlikely they purchased more than a couple cases of those beers, that's like ~$120 max in extra revenue/case minus their overhead of gas, time, etc. At most, probably $1k in actual profit from one trip.

All that work and the risk to lose your license just for a grand? No thanks.

There is zero risk of losing their license. I have reported them to the ABC multiple times with photo evidence from the store and Facebook page. The ABC does not care to enforce it.

This is why we have a wave of shops doing unethical things for a few extra bucks: Cork & Bottle, Perry's, Bobby's, Cask & Flask, the list goes on. They see it as no-risk money left on the table.

I wonder if breweries and distributors care?

As a consumer, I don't really care (being able to buy beer outside of its distribution, even at an inflated price, is not always a terrible thing). I would definitely give a **** if I was a competitor, or if their buying practices impacted my ability to buy certain beers directly from the source.

It's pretty ****** when a shop goes to a brewery-only release and buys up a bunch of bottles just so they can resell them at their retail outlet. That's the thing that makes me angry, and ironically it's the only thing that would be legal, if the brewery had a self-distribution license and the retail shop had the right paperwork.

RR does, and that's why they yanked their accounts.

I thought about trying to get some distributors worked up over it, but I don't know where to start. Seems pretty daunting.

That's what annoys me, as well. Harpreet standing in line for RR, SARA, and other nearby breweries doesn't help any locals besides himself. I can sort of turn a blind eye to far-away breweries being sold there, but he's making it harder for locals to score local beer just so he can insert himself as a middleman and get his cut. He's a parasite.

Yikes, so f-ing sad.

Any pics? Just to scratch my curiosity

I'm sure this is totally legit and not a picture of 5 friends who all got one.

Right? He said: "
John St CharlesCost me a lil over $3k and a case of de Garde bottles". He also said he paid someone for two and traded for the rest, so is that $3k the cost of traded beer? I'm hoping? Jesus

Aren't the big facebook beer groups like 800% trolling? I wouldn't take anything there at face value and would assume everyone is lying about everything.

Regardless if this somehow is actually real and this dude wants to throw his money down the toilet, more power to him, but it would be easier to just spend $3k on vintage lambic if that's what you want.

Apparently a RR employee is txting him on 3L mornings, so he can get the mule team over there.

His trunk @ the last de Garde release? Not sure

That's how most folks in the Bay Area with 3Ls got a Beatification. You think people are randomly up there on a non-holiday Monday morning? o_O

That's how my boy Danny got his. His friend who lives in town went for lunch, and called Danny about it, Danny said get it, and paid him for the bottle. But, this was such a random occurrence. Likely not to happen again without knowing when they will sell them.

I really wish they would at least let us know a night in advance, I would make the trip up again like I have for a couple Supplication 3L's.
