So, Bay Area peeps: I will be in Berkeley from Monday, July 20 to Wed, Aug 5. Will be staying with family/surrounded by family but will probably be able to make a couple of beer-related getaways. Will be relying on Bay Area public transport and possibly Uber - how does that work?

Can't bring any beers to a tasting since the wife is dead set on travelling with carry-on only - but would love to meet up for drinks at breweries/beer bars/dark alleys. Anyone interested, PM me and we'll get a convo going. Hope to tick some TBers IRL!

How does Uber work?

Just download the app to your smart phone, also get Lyft, enter in your CC information, and hail a ride where ever you are. Watch out for surge prices on either app, where the rate can be 1.5 - 3x the standard fare. Also, they have a Pool and Line option where you essentially pick up another passenger along your same route to save some money.

We should do a bottleshare at SoMA Streat Food Park, they don't really care, and trip to Cellarmaker on a Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday that works for some people when you are out.

Absolutely! And use someone's referral code for Uber or Lyft -- you can get some free rides no problem, and so can your new friends!

But take BART across the Bay -- way too expensive to do anything else.

My Lyft code: PETE058886

This all sounds great. Does Uber accept foreign CCs? Once I tried to buy 12-bottle shippers from U-Haul and have them delivered waiting for me at the hotel in Seattle where I was going to stay, but it turns out U-Haul accepts US CCs only.

I don't know! They do operate overseas, so it wouldn't shock me. U-Haul is a horrible company, so they might be the outlier here.

You can connect Uber and Lyft to PayPal if you have issues with your CC, but don't imagine you would.

How friendly and receptive I am to a meetup is directly proportional to how much Cantillon I can get from you.

Seriously though, will send a PM for a Cellarmaker meeting. OH LAWD I NEEDS EXCUSES TO GO TO THERE

The rumor is that AB InBev bought Knee Deep. The only things that are actually known are:

1. He no longer owns Knee Deep, so there is a new owner
2. He says he'll have a new project to announce

Jeremy had a co-owner in Knee Deep to get it started, Jerry. Jerry will remain - AB InBev is not true. New Project for Jeremy is true.

I think it'd be cool to do a share if others are game. It'd be fun to bring some local/ hard to find stuff for an out of country-er. Particularly such a TB regular.

Checked with a friend from the UK who visited a bit ago and he was able to use his card with Uber, at least.

I was going to advise you to potentially take transit (BART) across the bay since it's much cheaper than Uber/Lyft for the same trip, but note that they are closing the Interbay Tube on August 1st/2nd: https://www.bart.gov/news/articles/2015/news20150624-0

Definitely worth the trip over to the city for Cellarmaker if nothing else -- lots in the East Bay as well (up towards Berkeley, Rare Barrel and Fieldwork are both great options).

Good catch. I didn't even know that.

but note that they are closing the Interbay Tube on August 1st/2nd:

I am working on the plans to use a bus bridge that day, weekly phone calls that are building up to daily calls about it in the next week ro so, will provide any updates as I found out more.

But bottom line you don't want to be on the roads much that weekend, it will suck a lot. Pretty much avoid any freeway taht goes near the Bay Bridge.

Anybody been to Russian River lately and know what they have in bottles right now? I'm taking orders for friends before my trip next week, and their online menu refuses to load no matter what device/browser I try to bring it up on.

Weird, I just looked at it yesterday. I remember them having Blind Pig and that Sanctification was "coming soon."

Shows Blind Pig, Supplication, Damnation, Pliny, Salvation, Consecration.

Procrastination is Coming Soon

LOL. I had to look at the board 3 times to see if I was missing something ahhaha. I thought they did some release it was that stupid.

In some ways, I hope they are always this crowded on random weeknights. That might actually give them the idea to at least expand the restaurant.

They're deathly afraid of assuming debt or taking on investors, as far as I can tell. I don't think you'll see any substantial expansion from them for a while.

Oh, I know all about the RR **** show. Lived my entire life in Santa Rosa up until a year ago. Thanks for the heads up though!
