Anyone have a suggestion for Tahoe Mountain Brewery Taproom (Truckee) vs. Brewery (larger space; Tahoe City)?

Both sell bottle(s)/growler(s) to go?

I chose the taproom location because I also wanted to visit 50/50 the same night. But I can confirm that you can buy bottles and growlers at the taproom. You can email ahead to see what's eligible for fill since that information may not be on the website.

To clarify:
The brew pub is in tahoe city. Only 6-8 beers on tap, no beers to go, w overpriced albeit fine food. The brewery is in truckee, that's the spot. They had over 15 beers on tap, in a much better environment. Cheers

My comment is constant disapointment in regular bottles ( not Relcote) had the Pils and Berliner tonight. The former was not great, the latter sucked balls.

Went to the Truckee location last year before the Eclipse party. A buddy and I got a taster tray of everything on the board. (like 15 or 16 taps) We could not force ourselves to finish half the tasters...

Funny, I felt the same way my last two trips to Fifty Fifty. Outside of Eclipse and a couple others, their beer is pretty bad. :(

Really? The Recolte I had (the one with two wine names) was mediocre at best.
These 2 are certainly not as good as last years releases, but still a lot better than the regular releases.

Just got back from a camping trip to the Eureka area. Checked out 3 breweries:

1. Lost Coast: 20 yrs ago I'm sure that place was awesome. They haven't changed 1 bit since then I'd imagine and thus beer was meh.

2. 6 Rivers: cool spot, really nice ppl, cheap prices, but man that beer was bad.

3. Redwood Curtain: This place kicked ass. Beers were incredible! Super interesting, flavorful, done right. I only heard of this place bc a woman told us about it on the way out from 6 Rivers. It was right on the way to the campsite, so we decided to check out. Glad we did. Anyone even hear of this place?

Best brewery in Humboldt.

Yep. Mad River is probably a distant 2nd. Sick Livers is just bad.

I still love the Lost Coast building but yeah, they're stuck in 1994.

I'm kinda surprised somebody with weed money hasn't tried to launder...I mean open a brewery in Southern Humboldt around Garberville/Redway.

Where did you camp CommanderofAwesome?

Saw that Brasserie Saint James out of Reno is taking over the Abbot's Cellar space in the Mission. Heard their beer is pretty good.
At first I thought you were talking about Joseph James out of Nevada, and got kind of excited and was about to head out the door, then I looked them up. I wish it was Joseph James out of Henderson. The way they age their, albeit mediocre base beers, is incredible. Such barrel. Such mouth tastes.

I figure abecall98 will know but does anyone know if Altamont will fill blank 1L? I've only ever had them fill 2L growlers.

Nope. Only 2 Liter growlers. Not sure why exactly, but I think they mentioned something about their approval of that sticker only for 2 Liter fills.

What I don't get about this is that getting approvals for literally every size is barely harder than getting them for one size. It's seriously like putting more numbers on the form (and maybe paying the extra fees but IIRC the fees are pretty cheap, and you might not even need to if it's all on one form). The whole growler thing has really made me think that most people who run breweries are illiterate (or close to it).

What's crazy though is that there are a ton of other regulations that breweries have to follow, so it's not that they're completely illiterate. They've just chosen to make this topic much more difficult than it needs to be.

Well, maybe, or they're actually violating half of them but they get their taxes right so no one gives a ****. My suspicion is definitely that it's the latter.

Every time I bring it up in a forum or on Facebook, this is the conclusion I reach. And don't forget the brewery apologists who stand by them.

Really? I love 32 oz growlers!

Fresh Beer: "New Beer Smell" Pale Ale is pungent and unique. Super fun hop bill of HBC 344, Mosaic, Nelson and Motueka. Notes of Kiwi, Guava, White Grapes and Lemon Peel. 5.7% and 34 IBUs.

Watch the Warriors or fill a growler to bring home for the game.

So many exciting new beers coming out this week. Stay tuned.

Last but not least we just got approval for 32oz growlers. Fill em' up!
