My BeerSmith recipe is telling me to batch sparge (in two steps) at 168 deg. I'm going to be mashing in at 152 deg. with a strike water temp of 170.
If I sparge with 168 deg water I would imagine my actual sparge temp could drop 10 degrees adding that to the cooler temp grains.
BeerSmith doesn't give you a temp to start with for the batch sparge so wouldn't you want to batch sparge with something close to your strike water temp to achieve the 168 degrees? Or am I looking at this wrong?

The batch sparge process is typically so fast you don't need to mash out. I typically just use 170 degree sparge water. I've had no issues to date.
