Barleywine in a Bomber?

I just picked up a bottle of Alaskan Pilot Series Barleywine. There is no way I am going to drink a whole 22oz of BW in one sitting.

Anybody have any ideas on how to rebottle or store the remaining brew after I pour my share?

Well if you have a capper you could recap it. You'll lose carbonation, though. Or you could put it in a soda bottle with a carbonator cap and top it with CO2 if you have a kegging setup and a carbonator cap.

If I know I'm going to drink the rest within a day or so, I will just cap it with one of those rubber stopper wine bottle toppers and stick it in the fridge.

Anything that big is meant to be shared. I typically share even 12oz bottles of barleywine.

Just drink it over a few hours when you know you aren't going anywhere. The drop in quality from an opened bottle of beer for that long is pretty significant. Or cook with what you don't drink

Used to be, you could get barleywines in 7 oz. "nips." Great for having one on a cold afternoon. Now all these big beers come in bombers. I'm thinking it's because that way they can get away with charging the equivalent of $30-$40 a six-pack.
