A potential issue going with a colander set on top of the kettle is that when / if you max out your kettle, the wort level can be above the bottom of the colander....of course depending on volume in the kettle, and depth of colander setting in the kettle...
Of course ymmv

I built a rolling BIAB cart, the design for which I ripped off from greybush's cart. It works great, and I can now brew anywhere in the garage or outside. The Durock surrounding the burner insulates well, the outside of it doesn't get more than warm to the touch.
