I've long been amused by whiners who don't supply any of the effort, money, time and so on to run a forum, but they think they should be able to define the rules of that forum.

Then they'll whine about free speech.

OP--and all whiners--have the same opportunity to start up their own forum on which THEY can decide the rules. And you can bet your bottom dollar they'd be peeved if someone violated those rules. :)

We refuse to delete your account. The authorities demand that you stay in the forums for eternity.

Actually, that's kind of true :ban:

I banned the OP (he asked that we do it) but his account is still here. Do a google search on his user name and he will forever appear, and all of his glorious posts.

Plus I left this thread open because folks were having too much fun.

Cool story Bro.

@lewandowski46 - how do you get your GIFs to upload properly? Mine always get converted to static JPEG's when I try.

not to speak for who you actually asked but how i do it is 1) find the gif online (i use chrome) 2) right click it select 'copy image address' 3) click the picture tool mountain thing 4)right click paste into the HTML box that pops up 5):

Bah! I'm out.

It's just not as much fun if there is no chance of the OP coming back in to save face with half baked "official" resources. I'm going back to the meat toaster thread.

I mean, look at this Byzantine, Draconian list of rules:

1) no distillation
2) be of legal age
3) limited discussions about canabis
4) no profanity
5) don't be a dick

Gotta be a freakin Ph.D./lawyer/rocket surgeon to sort that out!

How do cannibis infusions of ice wine in Timor-Leste fit in here?

But it's really like Gibbs' rules on NCIS: Most of them are not written down. You only learn them by violating them. :)

First, upload the image using the manage attachments.
upload.PNG

Then select the arrow to the right of the paperclip.
paperclip.PNG

Then select the image you want to attach.
attach.PNG

and boom goes the dynamite!

Or, don't upload at all and just paste the link using the image attach button.

That's definitely an option if the image you are attaching is already hosted somewhere else. If it's an image you have stored on your local pc and wish to upload and attach it, without having to go through a third party image hosting service or using a cloud based drive application, the method above will work just fine.

While i understand why the rules are in place on these forums.
I agree with the OP.
It is censoring somebody's freedom of speech.
(done so that the big guberment won't come in and shut down these forums and take away w/e ad revenue is generated from it)

It goes to show that the avg person does not read the rules before signing up.
But i find it odd that somebody would announce it and then ask for their account to be deleted. You would figure most would just stop posting and dissapear into obscurity. Especially with such a small post #

I think there's a misunderstanding about freedom of speech. You have freedom of speech, but what you do not have is the right to demand others provide a platform for you to exercise that speech.

OP has the right to develop a website from which he can say most anything he wants, ask questions, and so on. I think it's a little presumptuous of him to demand others provide him that platform.

I was under the impression distilling was legal (in some states, as it seems from other threads I've read here alcohol laws can vary widely from state to state) in the US. It's illegal here in the UK

You don't have freedom of speech on HBT. This is a privately owned web site.

^^ +1. As was so eloquently phrased above, this is basically a club. If you want to stay in the club, there are some simple rules. You don't need to use one of George Carlin's "Seven Dirty Words" to make your point, we don't need to discriminate based on gender, race, religion, sexual preference, or anything else. Above all, we need to be civil and respectful to each other...even when we totally disagree (Yooper's rule about being a dick.) If the club rules says we won't use vile language, talk about Mary Jane, or making hooch, then that's the rules. You want to talk about making sour mash whiskey?...start your own forum or join Home Distiller's Forum. Personally, I like this club and the rules set forth, so please don't delete my account. Ed

No. But our forum is based out of Texas, and we are not worried about everywhere distilling is or isn't legal even in the US- we are following Texas law here. No distilling talk at all, without exception.

Marijuana is ok, as an ingredient in a brew, but NOT how to make a tincture/grow/buy/other.

The great thing is that if someone doesn't like our rules, they are free to create their own forum where they can make their own rules. We have the right to say 'no obscenities', for example, and it doesn't violate any free speech rights at all, since the forum doesn't have to give anybody the platform to say f works or other profanity. We can make a rule for no name-calling, and expect that rule to be respected.

We want this forum to be friendly to all, without personal attacks, namecalling, and discussion of illegal activities. Other forums may have other rules, and anybody of course is welcome to visit those forums if our rules are too stringent.

I've seen some forums where namecalling and profanity is the norm- that's why I'm not a part of those other forums. I like it here, and many others do too.

Yes there is a misunderstanding. You misunderstood what i wrote.
Nowhere did i "demand" that anybody provide anyone else a platform.
Nor did the OP demand it be done here.
Sinse he discovered that this HBT website is not that platform, he moved on.
Re-read my post, then re-read it again.
The admin at least could admit that HBT does not allways permit free speech. I don't need it explained to me as i allready know this and conveyed that i knew this (the rules) and even went on to say that i understand WHY those rules are in place. Telling me something i allready know is about as usefull as handing me last months newspaper, just don't do it.

Now you all may or may not agree with the OP, or are just buttsore about him posting about it, my actual point was that it just goes to show you that the avg person completely skips over reading the rules as shown by the OP. Had he been aware that he cannot speak his mind here regarding the evil D-word he merely would have not created an account and continue googling for a forum where he can speak his peace.
Secondly, i stated that i found it wierd/odd that he would post asking to be deleted. Perhaps he wasn't aware of how to contact a mod when he posted.

Was i not clear in my ealier post on this? Is my sentance structure so strange/out of the ordinary to the point that communication is lost in text?

I think everything you've said their is how we run our forum over at HBF. We've got a reptutation for being very friendly because we step in when things cross a line. Like you say if people dont like it they're free to go elsewhere :mug:
