I have the Auber CUBE 2E with EZboil DSPR320 and I have been having issues with the temperature control. The temperature readings are sporadic and inaccurate. I initially had a thermowell but changed to the triclamp sensor auber offers on their website. Despite this the temperatures are off.

This is really frustrating because I have to babysit the mash which is the whole reason I got this in the first place.

Any advice is greatly appreciated. I have read the manual some and know of the temperature offset ability but I was wondering if anyone knew how to make the temperatures not be so sporadic and inaccurate.

Thanks,
Jon

We have the same controller and have no issues. I use a seperate thermometer as well for exact mash temps and they match up.

Sounds like your probe is bad. Email them, they are pretty good when emailing abut technical stuff.

I was getting sporadic readings on my Cube, it turned out one of the wires in temp probe cable had broken at solder point at plug.

Where is your probe positioned in your system? This can have a big effect.

What others said about potentially bad wires is also a definite possibility. Have you tried putting just hot water in the system and wiggling the wires a little? If temps jump around, that is bad wiring. I

Brew on :mug:

Thank you all for the reply’s. Here is a picture of my setup. The temp probe is the triclamp fitting to the right of the outlet.

I will reach out to Auber as well to get their opinion.

Thanks,
Jon

Auber makes different temp sensors in different lengths. Are you sure you have the appropriate sensor for that setup? Could it be too short?

Are you saying that, at times, you get no measurement at all, that you always get one but it seems a little off, that you always get one but it seems way off, or that you get one but it's not stable?

I'm not clear on the nature of your problem. FWIW, I thought the generally accepted measurement location for recirculating eBIAB was at the output port. Measuring center mash leads to lag time, potential overheating and, if the flow through the mash is not even, you could get some really strange behavior.

There's a difference between the probe being consistently inaccurate and sporadically off. The former of which you can diagnose by putting it into a cup of warm water along with a trusted digital handheld or by putting it in icewater or boiling water. If it's off by the same amount, you use the controller's offset to fix it. The latter would be a sign of a bad electrical connection if it's right sometimes and off others.

Assuming that probe is measuring an area of liquid wort and not pressed hard into the bag of grain, it's a fine place to measure. You should have a false bottom between the element and bag.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to this, work has been busy. I got a t-peice which seems to have helped with the consistency part. I still had to offset the temp probe by 17 but this seems better.

Thanks again for the help!
