Who doesnt like air conditioning? Most will argue that if they dont have it, they find work arounds. Whether you put fans around your house, or drop a small a/c unit in your bedroom or even window mount, the bottom line here is important: In warm climates (my house has been 85/90 here in SoCal this summer), you cant throw enough fans in a room to appropriately modify the temperature of your fermenting beer.
This is number 2 in a long list of reasons why I just dropped way too much money on a new system. I consider it a long term investment; not only in the value-added to my home, but more importantly, the value-added to my long term capability to temperature adjust and ferment indoors, whatever time of the year I need...

Yah, in warm climates, central air will really add to the marketability and value of your home.

A/C doenst work to help me ferment (Id need to keep it at like 60-65F), so I have a chest freezer... but, I agree, a/c is great not only for value but for personal comfort.

I think SWMBO might get a bit cold, but hopefully she'll understand when she can see her own breath that there are more important things going on in the office (fermentation room).

Down here in Texas where we have had 69 days of triple digit temps this sumer, you cant live without a good A/C. I ferment in fridge in the garage because I cant afford to keep the house cold enough.

Glad I don't live in the extreme heat. It has been a relatively cold summer up here in Michigan. I have been fortunate, my basement has stayed a constant 68 all summer long without running the AC. Makes for a nice electric bill though.

My parents live in a place with hot, humid summers with no air conditioning. Trying to sleep when it's 80 degrees and 90% humidity sucks major ass... and there is no way in hell that I will do that. On top of that, their towels never dry, and it's not good for furniture.

A good night's sleep is essential. It's 2009, not 1959...

I replaced the resistive electric heater in the house with a heatpump when I moved in, got A/C as a bonus. I'm too old to sweat in bed ... when I'm by myself.
