Are these pots to thin

I was looking at buying these pots for my brew system and adding my weldless valves I already have. I noticed that they are 5mm thick, which works out to 24 gauge if I'm not mistaken. Blichmann pots are 18 gauge, and they seem pretty sturdy, with a sturdy price tag. So my question is, will these be to thin, will I have to worry about scorching, etc?

I have a 20 qt made from that company and I think its great. Nice solid bottom. I think they make quality pots, those are great prices too!

Im also trying to find a false bottom that will fit in these... no luck so far.

Isn't there someone on here that makes them custom? Are the jaybird ones custom?

Do a search on here for custom false bottoms, looks like he will cut them down to what ever size you want/need

I PM'ed him asking him about the false bottom. My main concern is about these pots being to thin. I currently use a thick aluminum pot for my kettle. I will be purchasing 3 of these pots, HLT, Mash tun, and kettle.

That's got to be referring to the base thickness. Hopefully clad? 5mm is actually over 3/16". That would be one heavy pot if the wall was that thick!

I'd also question the dimensions. Is 17-3/4" x 14-1/8 the height x diameter or the other way around.
If the latter, you'll want to consider boil-off rates.

Awesome guys! thanks for the response. Myself and Jaybird are in talks now about the false bottom. I will most likely order two 15 gallon and one 20 gallon pot.

Hey Deuce... I've been using the Winco 15 gallon aluminum pot for my BK for a while (love that BK by the way). I was thinking about turning it into a MLT, adding one of Jay's false bottoms (PM'd him yesterday about cutting one down to fit before seeing this thread), ball valve, dip tube, etc. I would buy a 20 gal for the new BK.

If you used one of his false bottoms, did you have him cut it to 17 inches to fit the 15 gallon pot? Does that measurement fit? Have you brewed with it yet?
