I use wine bottles because I like to make my cider off dry and still. However, many folks use beer bottles for their carbed versions.
I do age my ciders, but in bottles. I use all my carboys for wine that I also make. Racking will help to clarify cider just as it does wine if that was your question. Hope this helps!
