I've been a Nintendo girl since the mid-90s, since my daughter loved it. Had an NES and pretty much destroyed it slamming the reset switch. Got a Nintendo 64 for my daughter to have at my house, and played the heck out of that. Then bought a Wii when they were no longer stupid expensive. How I didn't fling the controller into the tv, I'll never know. When the original Switch came out, my husband being the wonderful guy he is bought me the switch lite; basically only the handheld that wouldn't hook to the tv. A few months later the local casino gave me the wherewithal to buy a Real switch, which I've been playing nonstop for about three years. So now the Switch 2 is about to drop, with just a few more bells and whistles (not to mention that awesome-looking MarioKartWorld that I'm itching to play). But....that price???? $500 for the bundle???? That's insane. Anyone?

Same here. But for bowling you have to actually get in the car, drive to a bowling alley (around here they are closing like mad), either bring your own stuff or rent their equipment, pay for mostly way overpriced food and drink, and then bowl. Which if you've ever taken teenagers to is an exercise in keeping them from flinging the lighter balls overhand (used to work in two bowling alleys, seen a lot of fun stuff). Whereas with a switch I can just sit in my comfy chair on my rapidly expanding behind, and play. On reflection, maybe I'd better go bowling. Fun fact: I introduced my husband (then boyfriend) to bowling about 23 years ago, and now we have an entire room in our house dedicated to bowling balls. Although I can't complain since I turned our garage into my own brewing space.

I just boxed up the N64 to make room for the Switch like three years ago. Which is one reason I'm really leery of the current push for download/subscription based gaming.

I still have the Xbox360 running for DVDs and non-kid friendly games.

In case it wasn't obvious, I was making an argument that the switch 2 is going to be some low cost per hour fun over its whole life and a pretty good bargain. The bowling is the more expensive thing at $9 an hour instead of $1 or less on the switch.

Huh, I'm a little late to the party here. Yeah, I'd like to get a Switch2. The video game consoles I've put significant time/money into are the NES (older siblings bought it used in the mid-90s), GameBoy Pocket (used almost exclusively to play the first two generations of Pokemon), Wii, and 3DS. I'm no hardcore gamer, but I enjoy it once in a while, and I think a while is coming around again.

My son is also getting to an age where he could probably appreciate it, so I'll probably wait until it's too cold for bicycling before I'd shell out for it.

I'm not looking forward to paying that kind of money for it, but I don't want to wait too long and get something near EOL.
