Anyone Ever Use Mesquite?

Has anyone ever used mesquite as opposed to oak chips/cubes or whatever?
I know it does wonders for smoking meat and fish and for BBQ, but was wondering what it would do for beer. Opinions?

I was contemplating doing a beer with jalapeño, and mesquite might work with that
