I have a few handfuls of oak chips saved from a batch of merlot I just racked off. They will be dried in a very low oven.

Presume some have done this before. Anyone here used them for smoking meat (or cheese, maybe), and your result?

Hmmm, I've smoked cheese and I've made lots of wine with oak chips. I feel like I have missed an opportunity here! Next time I'm re-using those chips. Thanks.

I use Irish whiskey-soaked Applewood chips for smoking grain when I do a smoked beer. I don't normally soak my wood chips in anything other than water for bbq, but now I am intrigued.
