I went to the horse track the other day
Twenty five great beasts but which one to play
I wanted to find out the fastest one
But the races were played sorta like 5 card stud
Only five stud horses were raced at a time
At the end of each race you know the winner not time
And to keep on using this same damn rhyme
Which horse do I invest into my only dime
[emoji41]

Oops I haven’t explained what the question is

How many races till I know which the fastest horse is.

Hint. Riddle 1 of this thread
Just a variance
...And this thread is not dead

If you know the answer and want to post it
Remember this thread etiquette and try to rhyme roast it

I edited the original version of this because I said you know the time of each winner. So in five races you pick the fastest time and have the fastest horse. To easy. But you don’t have times you just have winners and not all races are five at a time except at the beginning. And by that I mean first five races are five horses at a time...if no parameters just race all 25 at once, or do 12 at a time, then the two winners plus the one waiting. That would take two races. Or you could do 8 horses at a time then take the winners of each and add the extra one and race those four. That would be 4 races

But that’s not a prerogative. Five at a time till down to five winners. Then no rules .

No reason to close down the thread because it hasn't been responded to in a while. I've enjoyed it when I've seen it come up, even if I don't always participate.

For the horses:

Five races: A, B, C, D, and E with five different horses each.
Sixth race: A1, B1, C1, D1, and E1. Winner is the fastest.

Variants of this riddle often ask for the three fastest horses in order. That's where you need a seventh race:

Seventh race (for second and third place): Assuming A1 is the winner of the sixth race, B1 was second, and C1 was third: A2, A3, B1, B2, C1. First and second place of the third heat are second and third fastest.

The permutations get more complicated from there. What's the minimum number of races it might take to determine the order of all 25 horses? The maximum?

Ok here we go
Let’s kick start this thread
And put on a show

“Reaching stiffly for the sky, I bare my fingers when its cold.
In warmth I wear an emerald glove and in between I dress in gold.”

Ps. When in answering to this intriguing question
Please ensure it’s in rhyme riddle suggestion
Because to keep this thread quite true
It’s takes imagination from me and you

I macerate the earthy crop.
In vessel large, I mix the glop.
A floral fistful sets the tone.
A fungal friend at last is thrown.
A week or two to seal the deal,
Then transfer into glass or steel.
Then down the hatch, and to my head,
I should have taken up cycling instead.

Who am I? Or should I say, who are you?
The answer proves your registration true.

Fat Dragon I bow before your riddling banter
I nominate you the brew riddle rhyme master
Beautiful work my riddle rhyme brewer friend
You got a high place on this thread never end

Alright, I'm new to this, but I'll give it a go...

What am I?

Things that I hit, might go a long way
I’m cloaked in wings for a daytime stay
Used in baseball or cricket, many a game
At the first rays of light I go back whence I came

Oh GnomeBrewer you’re a pretty sly cat
The thing you speak of must be a bat

Here’s a joke and kinda of (weak)
Lolriddle

If you mix these

Insomniac
Agnostic
Dyslexic

What man or woman would this person be?

It’s really not a riddle but more of a joke
Still come up with an answer, you might need a toke

A wide-awake person who doesn't believe in Dog?

I don't think I would have ever gotten that. I've only looked at the first and last page. Are you rhyming with everything to make it more interesting?
Dog is correct, isn't it?

Dog is correct not an answer to reject
As far as this thread I have to reflect
Rhyming riddles and rhyming riddle answers are generally required by my little dog Prancer
So over the years it’s grown into this
A place to post and reply with a riddle rhyme kiss

Care to explain?
It's bending my brain.
God backwards is dog; that much I get,
But insomniac's relevance eludes me just yet.

An insomniacs plight
is to sit up all night
and to think about things to pursue.
The existence of God?
No, the existence of Dog?
He sits up all night contemplating true.

Post #1996 gives "Insomniac" asthe first clue
Adding it then, makes the Joke/Riddle true.
Please, people, tell me, how did I do?

What do you get when you mix
An insomniac, dyslexic and agnostic, what twist

You get a person who stays awake all night
Wondering if there’s a real Dog in site

(Best I could do [emoji3])

Gonna admit something now here and now
I am truly not a brilliant riddle cow
Nor do I have all the answers or good riddle and rhyming questions
I made a promise before about riddle suggestions
Never ask a question before that I haven’t answered the question
But I have broken my word, not often so don’t be perturbed

I got on a riddle sight tonight
Every answer I had was just not right

So I guess what I’m saying, if wrong you’re not betraying
Imagination, logic and fun

Please keep this thread going on sons

(Ya, we’re not related. I’m not your poppa. Sons just rhymed

Cheers
Dan D

That was well done.
To keep with the format,

What am I talking about son?

(Hint, look at the beginning of this. and then you will be winning it’s not hit or miss)

By the way. Anybody remember the Great Santini?
Bull Meechum of course
A Marine Corps force

It’s just a movie but kind of groovie
Bull Meechum, played by Robert Dinero
Wouldn’t exactly be my hero
But the character he does depict
Is a very good man and sob

Is it golf balls being weighed on a scale?
Though I want to be first, I suspect that my answer will fail.
Oh whale.

That last line should read like "oh well."
It's not very good, as you can all tell.
Oh well.
