So where is this happening? I'm in Muskegon and have the Michigan Irish Festival going on that weekend but I may be able to get my guys to work a few extra hours so I can swing by.

HenryHill is in Perry, just east of Lansing. It's about an 1hr 45min drive from Muskegon.

For sure! My wife and I are having a party in October just so I can unload some beer. I have waaaaaay too much stuff. It will be a casual grill out/fire drink thing. I will let you know when it is, you'll have to stop by. I'd love to check out your setup too.

I don't know how I missed this post I've been looking for it. My wife and I are fighting about this and I should be confirming my attendance or announcing my divorce any time now.

OK, look, she needs to talk to Z. That should solve this. Do you Facebook?

Besides, I'm a Toolmaker, too; what could happen?

PM sent.

It's not really that bad....I hope. I've been telling her I wanted to go to this since last year. Unfortunately she just made plans for us to have friends over that night and had to do some juggling of dates to make it happen. I'm trying to convince her to go out with some friends that night, we already have a sitter for the kids for that night.

OK it's a done deal! I'll be there.

Oh, good! I'm looking forward to meeting you.

I'm the short chunky middle aged woman, with a tall skinny older guy who hangs out with me. You'll be able to find me in the crowd, because I'm constantly talking and drinking beer. Kind of like a female version of Henry Hill :cross:

I'm really looking forward to this! I kicked myself in the ass for not coming last year, and the 14 hours to yoopers was just a little too far away.

I won't be bringing any homebrew, they took it away at the border last time I tried to cross with it. But fear not I'm positive I can get a case of Canadian across the border ;)

I'm going to thinking about what I'll bring, any suggestions?

I'd love to finish these thoughts but I have kids I need to beat.

You don't say? Jspence1, quick tip, just nod your head up and down a lot. The first chance you get for a clean break, take it!!!!! :D

Yeah. Yoop's the "chunky" one. :eyeroll

You'll find her by the sound of her voice and the T-shirt with a picture of her Grandson on it.

My wife says only one fire department has signed up for the extraction competition. I'm not holding my breath because I'm confident that there will be a couple signing up at the last minute. If there is a competition, I'll be looking for a Brewpub to visit on the day. I have no idea if there is anything in Roscommon area.

I don't think I'll be able to stay long but I'm in Lansing and would love to pop up and meet all of you and share some beer!

This sucks! I won't be able to make it this year. Heading out of town for training. We sure had a blast last year.

Yup, we did. Bummer, and you are a good COOK, too. :(

Weird how you pick a Saturday and many have a work related reason for not being able to attend...maybe I should pick a weekday next time, and everyone can have a Dr appt., so I can catch them before they have to travel for work on the weekend.

Good! I'd like to see your junk again.

Do you still have that coffee urn HLT?

yeah but i usually only use it now in the winter when i brew inside since i got a 10g boil kettle for christmas last year. HH's outlets didn't seem to be able to handle the power (wattage) needed to run it efficiently.

Anyone have plans for what beer they might make? I haven't decided yet, I have something like a belgian single in mind unless I end up making it sooner. I'll try to make it easy for myself and measure out everything beforehand which I don't often do. I was thinking a large plastic pill case could be really convenient for holding measured hop additions.

If anyone comes up short on ingredients I am willing to lend some, I have briess 2row, pils, pale ale malt, many specialty grains, an assortment of liquid and dry yeast and an ounce or more of as many hop varieties as I could find to order, and 8-16 oz of some popular ones. Might bring some DME too just in case.

I'm not brewing. I have enough stuff to haul to stay away for a week, and we're bringing our small car. We're staying in Manistique Sunday night, Bellaire Monday night, Traverse City Tuesday night, and then wherever we want on Wednesday. Thursday is Grand Rapids, Friday is Muskegon, and Saturday will be at HH's. We'll head directly home on Sunday morning.

Bob and I will be bringing a porketta. I'll bring a slow cooker, and either make it Friday night or I'll have to get it cooking on Saturday once we get to HH's. I hope that's ok.

Just watched "Locally Buzzed" tonight. If it comes to a theater by you, its worth a watch. It basically highlights Michigan Brewing Culture.

What happens is that the outlets circuit is usually being loaded pretty heavy by crockpots and roasters, which draw a lot of current, and a large side-by-side frig and two cheezers are already running. Same deal happens with parties-it's a PITA, but since the breaker box is at the far end of the house and the garage is finished, it has been easier to just run a cord from out of the living room if needed. Never fails that I have to reset the breaker to know when I've reached the limit. But I didn't recall the coffee urn issue from last year-did we use an extension cord or just brown out?

Whatever happens is fine with me, but are you going to have to keep this thing cold using motels and hotels for a week? That seems to be a lot of bother, and considering your logistical challenges, maybe something that doesn't need to be kept cold AND cooked would be less hassle?

I'm going to make a huge pot of chili with peppers and tomatoes from the garden, and will make home made tortilla chips to go with it. I'll try to keep it on the milder side of brimstone and have an assortment of additives (liquid hot peppers sauces and diced fresh hot peppers) available, so that those who have less tolerance can still have some.
