OMG best episode yet. That was really, really cool. Dropping cattle from a spaceship, doc and schizo sis get abducted, sis is being burned as a witch in the mode of Salem, doc and sis saved. Preacher might be undercover agent. Just good stuff all around.

I save my drool for Jewel (Kaylee) the mechanic :)

Yes, Kaylee is the hottest and awesomest and just my true dream girl. But Inara is hot, as are all the others from the cast, River, Zoey. Unfortunately they are not on Gotham and Inara is. I love Avery's Hog Heaven and would marry it if they legalize that, but if I see a Avery's Kaiser at a bar you can bet your tail I am gonna drink it and enjoy every drop.

I didn't jump onto the bandwagon until I was curious what Sheldon Cooper was all uptight about.

I admit, the opening "war in the trenches" bit threw me off. I couldn't see Sheldon getting upset about that.

It's Fox. They've made a cottage industry out of trolling nerds by putting geeky shows on the air and then cancelling them as soon as nerds fall in love with them.

This is an industry standard, I think.

Heroes (yay heroes reborn!), No Ordinary Family, The 4400, Bionic Woman (newish one), The Glades, Almost Human...

Although I will say, by the end of Lost, I was glad to see it go.

Didn't like the ending, tho.

Ya, I got a thing for Kaylee/Jewel Staite. Sigh.
Though I gotta admit, Summer Glau is REALLY hot in Serenity. I don't want to give it away, but there's a rather intense scene that features her and...
OK, I'm going to shut up now.
Regards, GF.

All them ladies are hot in their own way.

Fox screwed the show at the start by airing the series out of order. They wanted to display an action episode to get the fans excited, rather than air in the order the writers set so you get character development. I think if you watch on DVD you view them in order they were supposed to be viewed in.

This show could have SERIOUSLY become one of the greatest TV shows in the Sci-fi genre if Fox had just kept they damn hands off o' it!

And just wait until you get an eyeful of Mal's Love interest! I thought her role was played to perfection.

Are you talking about his stowaway "bride"? I watched that episode last night. From what I can tell, Inara has eyes for Mal.

All the characters are excellent, and there's just enough subtle sex and humor and gunfights at the OK corral and space ships to make this thing awesome.

Yes. She's not the actual love interest, but she tries.

Curse her sudden but invitable betrayal!

So, was the movie made before the show? Same actors? Is there any reason to stop, watch the movie, then go back to show, or just finish season first then watch movie?

I'm already pissed this show was so short-lived.

Movie came after the show. Finish the show and consider the movie the encore.

Then be sad that there isn't more to watch. :(

EDIT: Oh, and fair warning: Jewel Staite lost a bunch of weight between the show and the movie, Kaylee is better looking in the show, IMO.

Oh yea, BTW, I loved the twist in the show last night where it's revealed that River is psychic. She read the mute kids mind; then, when they were going to burn her as a witch (!), she read the mind of the town mayor. It was a little Steven King supernatural twist, as if this show needed any more layers of coolness.

There were a bunch of things wrong with how FOX handled that show. Not only did they air them out of order, they also had a habit of shifting the air times around and randomly preempting/delaying the air times such that you could never actually predict when the show would be on TV from week to week. I can only imagine that someone at FOX was deliberately sabotaging the show by how much they screwed it up.

Damn, I need to watch this again. It's been years since my last Firefly binge.

I swear by my pretty floral bonnet, if you don't watch it again, I will end you!

But don't take that too seriously. Not much I can do to you from way up here.

Man, you guys...

Seeing this thread pop up over the past couple days has me wanting to do a re-watch. Which is totally going to slow down my e-brewery build and my reading for my library book club.

When the show was on, my workmates talked it up a lot but I couldn't seem to ever find when it was going to be on. Antenna TV only for us and no DVR back then.

Then I was out of town for work one week, driving around looking for something to do. Noticed a movie theater had Serenity showing. I bought a ticket and was hooked within minutes. This is like if Han Solo had a movie of his own. Also kinda reminds me cowboy bebop, with more cowboys :) I went straight to a store and bought the Firefly DVD set. Sure, I should've watched the show first, but nothing was ruined for me. I've seen everything so many times now, it just never gets old.

Enjoyed it all when it first came out, then it seemed to disappear for a while. Now when I'm surfing and bump into it I can't help but watch it, even if there is only several minutes to go.

Nope, first show, then movie, that was how it was made. The movie presumes you know the show. A little like Star Trek movies did. - only WAY COOLER...

THERES A GORRAM MOVIE? Shiny...I'll have to give amazon some more money, then.

The phases of Firefly fandom:

1) "My friend told me I must watch this show. Fine. I'll watch an episode just to shut him up."
2) "Holy crap! This show is great! I can't wait to watch the rest of the series!"
3) "What?! There was only one half-season?! What a crock!"
4) "THERE'S A MOVIE TOO?! AWESOME!"
5) "Oh my God. I cannot believe that the movie ended like that. I am now sad forever. But I must tell everyone I know about this show and what a shamockery it was that it only lasted for a few episodes."

This is exactly what happened to me. Only I was able to refrain from watching Serenity until the appointed bingewatching of the DVD series was done.
